Nelson was held yesterday under the auspices of the Scandinavian Be nevolent Society and the A. O. U. W. Rev. Mr. Short officiated at the ser vices in Pythian hall . Yesterday was the anniversary of the Fall of the Bastile. The event is one ever remembered by the French. Mr. Alex. While switching cars at Warrenton on the Seashore road yesterday morn ing, an employe named Isaac SuMom was thrown under a car and one of the wheels passed over the ankle of his left foot. The Injured man was brought to St. Mary's Hospital and Dr. Fulton summoned to attend his In juries. The Oregohlan says that Capt. Tom Crang, who ha gun. to the Sound on a vacation, will not return alone. A number of his friends have prepared about fifty postal cards which will be forwarded to him with their congratu lations. The popular skipper of the White Collar Line has the best wishes of all his friends. A man over from Point Elllce yes terday says that during the night of the double murder at that point he heard the noise and a great many voices talking and shouting a 'nng time, and then a number of shots were fired. Last Sunday one of the big four horse teams of the Prael teaming com pany, while hauling timber out nn the Young's River road, met with rather a serious accident. In going down 3 steep grade the reach of th. wagon broke, leaving the vehicle entirely un manageable. The horses started down the hill on a run, and the front team and left horse of the rear team broke their harness and freed themselves. The right horse of the rear team, a tine dapple gray, was caught by tim bers and thrown violently to the ground. The wagon and timbers piled on top of him, and he was given up for lost. Willing hands, however, re moved the wreck and much to the sur prise of all the horse moved about, ap parently only slightly Injured. The wagon was badly damaged. Traffic on this road Is much heavier than most people Imagine. While the road was blocked by thla accident, eleven two-horse teams approached from either side and awaited an op portunity to pass. ASTORIA'S REGATTA. The arrangements, now practically completed, for the regatta to be held here next month, provide for one of the most Interesting entertainments ever given on the Northwest Pacific coast. Every detail has been looked after. Appropriate prize, have been arranged for every race In all of the Important events. The firemen', tournament will afford amusement on land (luring Inter missions between races on the water, and ample provision has been made for the entertainment of all guests. A perusal of the program will convince anyone of the attractiveness of Asto ria's great annual fete. NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS.
