The steamer Queen went over to Deep river yesterJay afternoon. One carload of salmon was shipped east on the Potter laa night. The American ship Alameda will leave up the river tomorrow morning. The Alia: Blanchard is expected in from San Francisco and way poris this morning. The British ship Narcissus, with Pilot Reed aboard, left up for' Portland yes terday. In tow of the Emma Hayward. The British ship Rundown left up the river at daylight yesterday morning in tow of the Oklaliama, Captain Johnson was In charge. The steamer State arrived in from San Francisco yesterday with 70 tons of freight for this city. After dlscnarging, she passed on up to Portland. Early yesterday morning the B.xtls' ship Rlversdaie went to sea, dipping her flag continuously and saluting large num bers who lined the lower wharves to see her go out. The Mendell took down two birges of atone to the jetty yesterday morning and In the afternoon towed down a luad ci llrewook for the donkey engines at the end of the wharves. Captain Al. Belts came down the river yesterday on one of his regular tours o. Inspection. Finding all the o.d ea.ts st'll keeping in good health and able to pass muster as well as ever, he returned horn, on the Potter last night. The Manzanlta went out yesterdiy af ternoon on her Umpqua andvCoos Bjy cruise. Captain Uregory waa unable to say when he started how long he wou.l be away, as a great deal depends on tlu condition of the Umpqua buoys. yesterday afernoon the new naphtha launch from Seattle made the Dwyer's afternoon trip from the trestle with the passengers from the Seaside train. Thirty-four people crowded the little boat, which brought them all across safely at a good speed. Messrs. Sandeburg, Jordon and Hedley, are now aboard the Lincoln, carrying on her surveying work under the dlrtction of Engineer Hegardt. The Lincoln was working In the vicinity of Scarborough Head all day yesterday and tied up at Flavel's dock last night. Captain Donelly yesterday morning be fore he left for Portland, with his irtiip, expressed his sentiments thusly: "It brings old times back to me again to find myself in tow of one of them wheel barrow steamers running up the Colum bia river an' tootln' them Infernal whis tles all the way along." The Signal left out yesterday morning for Vancouver with a full load of flour. Two Chinamen were landed here from her yesterday, their identity as merchants having been proved" to the satisfaction of Collector Page. She took three Chinamen back with her, one rejected from this city and two from Portland. The whole stem of the steamier Eclipse down nearly to amidships was sawn off yesterday, giving the steamer a peculiar appearance, with her whole Interior visi ble. The foundation was laid In the afternoon for the new stem which Is to he ten feet longer than the old one and of far better and sharper appearance. When the Mayflower comes off the ways tomorrow all her companion steam ers of the mosquito fleet' will turn green with envy. The run of fish yesterdiy kept up to the excellent standard of the two pre vious days, .with the weight ' averaging from 27 to 29 pounds, an improvement of two pounds over any run since the season opened.
