The cold fact is, that farm products have declined in value more than the produots of our manufactur ers. From October, 1892, the month before the vote for a Change of policy . to December 26, 1894, the lowest point touched last year, the decline In prices of farm product taken together aver aged 9 per cent, but the decline In prices of all other produots averaged 7 per cent.' The excess of loss to the farmers' side was largely due to two items, namely, a decline of 39 per cent In wool and a decline of 29 per cent In cotton. Exclusive of these two, othet farm products taken together declined less Uhan manufactured products. But it was, and always will be, impossible to prostrate cotton and woolen mlllB wlBhout Injuring the farmers. The far mers of the United States have beea Injured by the Democratic tariff policy, . and that to a greater degree than the manufacturers. The lesson to be drawn from the whole matter is one that every American farmer should learn thait the proepertiy of the farmer le largoly dependent upon the prosperity t of everybody else. This Is but a specl fio statement of a general principle that the prosperity of one class depends upon the general prosperity, end any thing which Injures one class, or sever al classes, of the people, exerts an In jurious effect upon all. This is the foundation upon which 'the dbotrlne of protection is ibullt, and rhaexperience of Dive hurt two years proves its abso lute truth. The United Btates cianndt stand aloof from Its Interests In this country, say a recent issue of the Honolulu Adver tiser. The longer it delays action, to Just 'that extent H is Jeopardizing Its own advantages. The benefits received are far from bebig all In the Hawaiian pan of the scale. The impression is far too prevalent wHth the average citizens of the United tSates who give the Ha waitan question casual attention, that we are groveling before the throne of grace simply for our own gain and glory. Not unftfl by some haiw chance they come In contact with and know the situation as It is, do they wake up tc the fact that they, as Americans, have interests not to be despised in this country. Interests, In fact, which will admit of no dilly-dallying policy, else some day Uncle Bam will wake up tr the foot that the sweet morsel with Which he has been carelessly playing Is In other hands, and h is left In the cold, with an aggressive Aslatlo nation occupying his only natural naval out post on th Paciflo coast. These ar live issues which the American must needs meet In time, to maintain hit supremacy. As a distinct party the sliver men are powerless. They may absorb a portion of the Populist vote, but that Is all. The elections of 1891 demon strated that the tide of Populism had reached its Wg!h-wter mark, and the e(Uj had set in. Possibly it will be ab sorbed by the ttvur party; tart an ebb tide cannot be gMtten to reveive Its course. 'With the sober second thouh li.uiUgwii men wi'.l realize thM U proposition- for free silver coinage at IS to 1 really means Bilver monometaU Msm of our currency; and they will have none of What. The ipeople do not want a special sea- ! sion of congress, but they do want a cihance Ito manage their own business In their own way without any dangei oi legislative Interference. The Cleveland-Carlisle bond deal wKh tlhe Belmonit-JMorgtt.nl syndicate ia alone eufllderot to Insure the election of a Republican president In 1896. The Populist leaders are now princl pally engaged in the Work of trying to reorganize flhelr party and attach It to some 'new form of political lunacy. BUCltLBN'B ARNICA SALVE.
