Notice is hereby given that the Com
mon Council of the city of Astoria
Oregon, have determined to improve
iniriy-iuin street from the north side
of Franklin avenue to the south side
of Duane street (exclusive of crossings)
all In the city of Astoria as laid out
and recorded by John Adair, by 'grad
ing to its full width and established
grade, putting in new fir piles, cans
and stringers, where necessary, and by
planking with new and sound fir plank
and by building sidewalks on both
sides thereof.
All of the Improvements to be made
in accordance with the plans and spe
cifications and ordinances in relation
thereto.
The lands and premises upon which
the Bpeciai assessment shall be levied
to defray the cost and expense of such
improvement and the district embrac
ing said lands and premises, be and the
same are designated as follows, to-wit:
Commencing at the Northwest cor
ner of Lot Number 3, of Block Number
18, running thence east to the middle
of the north line of Block Number 19,
thence south through the middle of
raid Block 19, to the southeast corner
of Lot 7. of said Block 19. thence west
to the southwest corner of Lot 0, In
Block 18, thence north through the mid
dle of said Block 18, to place of begin
ning. Containing Lots 3, 4, 5 and 6,
of Block 18, and Lots 1, 2, 7, and 8 of
Block 19, all in Adair's Astoria.
Estimates of the expense of such im
provements and plans and diagrams of
such work or Improvements, and of the
locality to be improved, have been de
pointed by the City Surveyor with th
Auditor and Police Judge for publl
examination and may be inspected a
the office of such officer.
At the next regular meeting of the
Common Council, after ten days fron
the final publication of this notice, to-
wit:
On Wednesday, March 6th, 1895, at

such improvement, signed by persons

Astoria as laid out and recorded by
John Adair, from the west line of
Thirty-fifth street to the east line or
Thirty-seventh street, all in Adalrs
Astoria as laid out and recorded by
John Adair.
Said improvement shall consist of
grading to the full width and establish
ed grade, so far as said grade is on
solid ground, and by driving piles at
crossing of Thirty-fifth street, placing
posts on said plies where necessary,
placing caps and stringers on said
posts, planking to full width from
sidewalk to sidewalk where piling and
posts are used, and by planking twenty
feet through the center where no piles
or posts are used, and by building side
walks on both sides thereof. All of said
improvements to be made strictly in ac
cordance with plans and, specifications

be awarded to such bidder he will en

April 10th, 1895, and the contract shall
provide that in case such work Is not
completed on or before the. said 10th
day of April, 1895, It shall he lawful
for the city, upon giving notice to such

dention so to do, to proceed to the
completion and to complete such work
at the expense of the contractor or
