LOOS OF FAILING HEALTH.
Try Paine's Celery Compound
For a Few Weeks.
The Daughter's Health Will
Soon Eeturn.
languor Will Disappear and
Nervousness Go.
Mothers with daughters that are yet
young often ask themselves:
"How can my girls be saved from
nervousness and litolong weakness?''
It falls to the mother, with her clear,
thoughtful eyes, to see that the health
and future happiness of her daughters
is not sacrificed by excessive study, 01
to anv unreasonable excitement. The
signs of falling health and weakness
pale cheeks, languid behavior, colorless
Hps, growing thinness, Irritability all
these ring alarm In her mind, for they
Mint, each with its separate finger, to
but one cause; thin, watery blood, and
an already impaired nervous system,
Parents should begin at the first
symptom of such tendency to change
this unfortunate habit of the body. The
real nerve food, Paine's celery com
pound, if used with the attention to
regularity that any able physician's
prescription requires (this remarkably
effective blood maker and nerve food
is the formula of no less eminent a
scientist than Prof. Edward B. Phelps,
M. D. LL. D., of the Dartmoutn vieai
cal school), if taken as Prof. Phelps
urgently advises, is sure to cause forth
with a clearly observed change in the
tires, badly nourished body.
A single week will show that the "run
down" system is appropriating more of
the food that is taken, into the body,
and rapidly building up the weakened
parts. Languor will disappear; the
spirits will be raised; the nervous af
fections; dyspepsia neuralgia and de
pression that went with the former ex
hausted condition, will no longer afflict
the nei . es.
For overwrought, worried parents, for
thin, pale children, for the aged, who
are most apt to be afflicted with rheu
matism and sleeplessness, and for any
who lack strength, there is nothing
that progressive physicians rely on so
invariably as Paine's celery compound,
It makes new blood. It stores the ner-
vous tissues all over the body with
fresh material. It builds up the brain.
It cleanses every bit of harmful humor
from the blood and sends it brls-vly
through the arteries laden with food
for the deepest, most vital tissues.
There's returning health, and an. ac
tive, full-fed state of the body in Paine's
celery compound.

It cannot be denied that influence of
climate upon health is great, ana it is
in recognition of this fact that physi
cians send patients suffering with pul

"change of air." But when the sufferer
haoDcns to be too poor to act upon
the advice his lot Is hard Indeed. But
it is not necessarily hopeless. Dr.
Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery
can be had at any medicine store, and
to it thousands whose cases were con

It. the "Discovery" Is the remedy. With
severe lingering coughs of weak lungs,
nothing acts so promplty. Every di

this.and for "every other form of scrof

The prediction of shrewd old John -Jacob
Astor is about to be fulfilled. The
city of Astoria, Oregon, is about to
become the greatest seaport and me
tropolis of Northwestern America,
Its location and resources have at
tracted the attention of capital, and it
is today, the best field for the Invest
ment of money, brains and muscle on
the American continent.
This "Largest civilized city in tho
world without a railroad," Is to exper
ience the impetus of a connection in
different directions with two of the
greatest continental railway systems.
Astoria's harbor advantages (the,
best on the whole Pacific Coast) are
now understood and appreciated; its
fishing interests (already paying to the
hands employed In the salmon canneries
alone over $250,009 of wages each
month) are to be augmented by the
investment of outside capital and the
erection of large and latest improved
plants. The immense forests of Ore
gon pine surrounding the city are to
be converted into lumber for the Aus
tralian, Chinese, Japanese, and South
American markets.
The great coal fields within a few
miles of the city are to be immediately
opened, and the product thereof shipp
ed in every direction.
A dairying region unsurpassed in the
whole world is to be opened up and
afforded an outlet to market.
A harbor, better than that of San
Francisco, and the only one with this
exception on tin more than two thous
and miles of Pacific coast, is to be
supplied with increased dockage and
coaling facilities, and immense grain
elevators will be built to store and load
the wheat of the Columbia basin direct
ly on the merchant fleets of the world.
Astoria offers openings for many new
industries, nimely, grist mills, saw
mills, paper mills, stave, box, barrel
aad tub factories, show case works,
cash and door factories.
There will be room for many Jive,
energetic and wide-awake men and
women with or without money. All
inquiries promptly answered. Papers
and data supplied on application.
