''' " OREGON'S CROPS. From Indications There Will Be a Good Yield This Year. The United States department of ag riculture makes the following report of the condition of Oregon crois for tho week ending August Cth: The harvest of fall-sown grain Is practically completed in the Willam ette Valley, and in the southern coun ties, but continues in the coast coun ties. Some oats have also been cut. Potatoes still continue to look well, giving promise of excellent yields. Threshing has commenced In some sec tions; more has been done in Lane county than In other sections. Thresh ing will become general about the lat ter part of the present week. Some spring grain has been cut, The crop of spring grain Is generally considered su perior to last year's crop. From the grain already threshed the yields "have been satisfactory. There is some rust In the spring grain, though not of a serious nature. Hops are making a good progress, and a large crop Is now assured. In Polk county many hop lice have been observed, making It necessary to spray the yards the second time. Small fruits are abun da.it. All crops are making fair prog ress and the prDduct' will be large. All grains In the Columbia and Wal la Walla valleys matured so rapidly that the out crop Is now ready for har vest. Some late sown grain possibly suffered from the warm spell, but the damage Is found only In spots. There Is an excellent outlook for largo yields of all kinds of grain. The aphis scare Is passed. When grain is found to be shrivelled, some attribute It to the grain aphis, and others to the warm weather. ' Corn lias a very good color mil will make a good' crop. Wild and ulMvatcd blackberries are In the mar kets. Apples and plums are plentiful. Gardens suffered much from the warm weather, but the potato crop still will he very good. CORRESPONDENCE.
