THE DAILY ASTORIAN, ASTORIA, SATURDAY MORN I NO. MAY ID, 1894. THE MOTOR WILL RUN, And the A. F.. C. Boys Are All Jubilant In Consequence. Every resident of Astoria will be flighted to learn that the Bay Railway company will run (heir cam to the football grounds during the coming summer. The work of repairing the track will be begun on the 20th Inst, the contract having been let to Mr. Knatabend, who is engaged on the re pairs now being made to tho Astorlan building. Judge Taylor walked into the football grounds last Wednesday even. tng, finding about forty players in the heat of an exciting practice game. He announced his intention of immediately repairing the road and promised the boya to have It in good running order by tho 30th Inst, the date of the big match with the Union Pacific team of Portland. This was a speech thai brought forth one of the heartiest rounds of cheering ever heird at the point and the Taylor family were given three times three for their public spir ited action. Naturally every member cf the club is jubilant, Mr. Taylor's de cision having assured the A. F. C. splendid season's sport. The Astoria Football Club's regular practice nights have been decided on, and every Monday, Wednesday and Fri day evening, punctually at 6 o'clock the ball will be kicked off. As goon as the Portland game is played on Dec oration Day the rest of the matches of the season will be fixed. The "color" games and "ladies' game?, so popular last year among the public, will In all probability be re sumed this year with several new fea tures added. Seattle, Tacoma, Port land, Ilwaco, Fort Canby.Corvallis, and Tillamook, may all wrestle with our Astoria boys before the season is over, and much confidence is expressed by the friends of the local players that they will be victors on several hard fought fields both at and away from homo. Mr. J. Robson Weddell, G. C. Fulton, and J. H. Mansell were spectators at the practice game of Football Wednes day evening. CHURCH SERVICES TOMORROW.
