promlrert gentlemen were present and
made speeches during the evening:

torlan congratulates the Republicans of
Uniontown on the new organization,

along the good work.
The Power of Littlo Tilings.
Daintiness in trifles is very attractive.
Atfift that is wrapped in good paper and
tied with a pretty ribbon, for instance,
looks twice as tempting as tho same
present carelessly given. Every,' one
knows how n table may be made reifined
or othcrwiso by the mere setting of the
china, glass mul cutlery nnd how the
touch of tho yiistress' hand will convert
the clumsy disposition of an inexperi
enced servant into an arrangemant of
beauty and order. Tho same room with
the siuuo furniture may look na widely,
different us tho desert of Sahara aiwl the
garden of Eden, according to the(taste
shown by its occupant. !
This power of httlo thiugs cannot be
overestimated, and it is not only in
thiugsinauiniate, but in worustind deeds,
that this most desirable quality of taste
may be manifested. A kind action, may
be lmtuu graceful, a generous gift may
bo bestowed tactfully, by force of what
might bo deemed a tnfle, bnt which
sometimes U of the greatest importance.
On the other hand, a careless, neglectful
manner will almost rob a kindness of
tho pleasure it was intended to bestow
and. render it absolutely distasteful to
the recipient. New York Tribune.
