A largo audience of parents and friends of the pupils were present, and all went away delighted with the manner In which the pupils acquitted themselves. A number of tliu visitors made special mention of tho excellent, order shown by the chil dren during the exercises. The room was crowded to excess and order was close to perfection, showing great care in the training of the children in their daily work, as well as the exer cises of the day. Short addresse were made by Drs. Dorrance and Bushong, also Director Dealey. The teachers re turn their thanks to all those who fav ored them with their visit, and hope to build up Cedar street school until It shall be an Institution of which the Astoria people may be Justly proud. THE ABSTRACTS WILL BE FORTH COMING. A number of property owners are having their subsidy abstracts prepar ed, so as to be in readiness to receive the gentlemen who are now on the way to Astoria to make the- final arrange ments for the road. Let all . be ready with as little delay as possible, and then no trouble will be experienced in closing up everything. The subsidy committee have earned the everlasting gratitude of the people of Astoria by their noble efforts to make a success .of it this time, and it Is a source of great satisfaction that the tight kind of men were induced to serve on this committee. It seemed an heroic undertaking at first, but it is wonderful how the prospect of success sometimes smooths the way to things. WH hiiv-i 'T1 rTM CIRCUIT COURT NOTES.
