The above play is certainly a winner in the Stutti company repertoire, and It Is easily accounted for. The play hat nil the merits of a good comedy drama, and Is presented with a caste that would be hard to excel. E. Alma Stutts cannot Ue excelled In the character oi Fanchon, the wild, untutored grand daughter of tho old witch Fadet. Th( May-pole dance was an esneclal foalurv of the play. The performance was tine of the most enjoyable yet presented, una win De repeated tonight, A STORMY VOYAGE. Account of the Thermopylae's Recent Trip From the Orient. Tim bark Thermopylae, Cape Win chester, arrived homo from tho Orient luBt Monday morning with another loac of about 1,000 tons of jddy and Chincst merchandise for her owners, Hall, Rob. & Co., of tho Victoria Roller and Rice Mills. As a rule tho bark establishes a record on each passage she makes, but on this, her last voyage, such a thing was out of the question, owing to the bad weather experienced, says the Col onist. Speaking of his trip, Capt. Win chester says It seemed as though he ran j into a heavy snow-storm about every other day occupied on the voyage. Aftet leaving Hong Kong the vessel was eight days getting out of the China Sea, U hours of which she was In a terrific gale. Notwithstanding this, the worst storm experienced was on Saturday last, off Capo Flattery, and In sight of land which she had lot view of In tho Orient IS days before. In this galo the vessel' new equipment of sails were blown to Ktoms, tho gale coming with such forei n to bisect the clew a largo Iron bolt fastening the foretop mulnstaymiil The Cape Benin lighthouse was signalled on tho day of the storm, as also two vessels, one of which, bound up the Hlralts, was heavily listed and seemeO partially loaded. From the distance be tween her and tho Thermoplyae she ap peart-d to be a Norwegian vessel, which had been loaded with lumber. He gteam donkey engine was In opcratlor when seen. Besides this illustration o' the severity of tho recent gules on tlu Coast, the Thermopylae pawned a largf quantity of lumber drifting off the Cnpe. Tho lumber was In small sixes nnd may be that lost from the wrecked Norway, or some other unfortunate ves sel's decktoad. One of tho Therinopy lac's crew, a young- Swede named li Wilson, died on board tho vessel in lilt 43, 15 N., long. ICS, CO, on tho first of this month. He had been ailing from consumption for some time pasty am' wan making his swonj trip to Victoria at the time of his death. His remains were burled at sea, the funeral services belli performed by Capt. Winchester. C.hing an idea of the severity of the 11!. d through, Capt.
