The democrats succeeded In mustering a quorum In the house this morning:. The de mand for the previous question on tak ing up the tariff bill was carried 189 to none, ten more than a quorum. Thirty minutes' debate was allowed under the rules. The members under arrest by the sergeant-at-arms under the resolu tion of Saturday are as follows: Brown, Indiana; Cadmus, New Jersey; Fielder, Gelssenhelmer, New Jersey; Lefevre, Randall, New. York; Bunn, North Car olina; Shields, Cornish, Fithlan, Illinois, Laurln, Talbert, South Carolina; Tur jiln, Alabama; Woodard, North Caroli na; Broderlck, Kansas; Gardner, New Jersey; Helner, Nebraska; Sherman, New York; Woomer, Pennsylvania. Washington, Jan. 8. In the senate the Hawaiian question was taken up. Chandler introduced a new Hawaiian resolution, and the Hoar resolution about Blount's salary came up In the regular order. Gorman mover Its ref erence to the foreign relations commit tee. Hoar objected. Hoar's resolution was referred to the committee on foielgn affairs. The sen ate then went into executive session. . Turple presented a resolution ilcclitr lng the project of the annexation .-,1 Hawaii Inexpedient, and should be no further considered, and that "It is of the highest international Interest that the government of Hawaii be allowed to pursue Its own line of policy." The resolution went over till tomorrow. Frye attempted to secure a vote on his reso lution declaring against American In terference at Hawaii, but Butler ob jected and the resolution went over un til Wednesday, The special order fixing the "9th in stant for the vote on the Wilson V? 11, was adopted by a vote of 175 to 1. The preliminaries having thus been settled, Chairman Wilson, of the ways and means committee, arose and opened the debate on the tariff bill. SHORT IN HIS ACCOUNTS. F Russell, cashier of the First National Bank, was found today In Anterson's Masonic Hall, In a semi-conscious con dition. The governor abstained from any partisan references In his Inaugural address, con fining himself entirely to the condition of the state. A DARING BURGLARY. Chlcugo, Jun. 8. Three robbers loda entered Samuel Greenburg's pawn shop. They bound and gagged the clerk, who was the only person In the shop, and did likewise to a little girl who came in while the robbery was going on. They then rilled the sufe of $10,000 worth of diamonds, money and watches, und made good their escape. PRESIDENTIAL N'tM NATIONS. Washington, Jan. S.
