JEFF'S, The Only Restaurant
The Prineville, Or., Review contains
the following:
About six weeks ago one Rev. Joslah
Crouch appeared In Prinville, and a feV
weeks ago he was elected pastor of the
First Baptist church. He being a mem-
ster and a smooth talker, it was easy
for hi:n to gain the confidence of his
congregation and borrow $52 to send to
his mother. But he used the money for
another purpose to pay his way out of
the country without arranging to set
tle with his creditors."
The gentleman mentioned is the same
ihose wife disappeared at Willnpa a
few months ago..
Referring to the matter, the Herald,
of South Bend, says Crouch was re
cently recognized in San Francisco, and
it Is reliably reported that he has by
this time left the bounds of the United
States for some unknown land, where
perhaps his sins will not find him out
for a time. Enough has been learned
of his past since the mysterious death
of his wife at Wlllapa to rank him with
the most despicable of depraved human
ity, and there Is no likelihood of his
ever being seen again In this commu
nity. Shanahan Bros.' store has been
crowded all week with people eager to
lake advantage of the great bargains
In toys and Christmas goods of all de
scriptions. Many novelties are dis
played.

MR. DILWORTH'S CASEi
Charges Against Him "Grow Out of
Personal Animosity."
The following Is from Tuesday's Ore.
gonlan:
My attention having been called to a
newspaper report of October 20, I would
like to say: '
First The records of the Presbytery
show that no charges of any kind have
ever been made against the Rev. R. B.
Dilworth.
Second No request for his removal
has ever been made before the Prone
tery, nor did he make any Attempt t
withdraw his resignation.
J. V. MILLTGAN,
Stated Clerk. I
November 9, 1893.
The committee of the Tresbytery re
ports as follows:
We have thoroughly and constien
ttously examined all available evidence,
It is the Judgment that the difficulty
has had Its Inception nnd continuance
largely In personal animosities and
want of Christian charity.
Regarding the attacks upon the min
isterial character and standing of Rev,
It. B. Dilworth, we find that in view
of all the circumstances no action Is
needed; we therefore recommend Hint
no action be taken in the case. Adopted
