McCracken and a large beach party passed through the city yester day. , E. S. VanKuren and James D. Hart came down the river on last night's boat. R, E. Jones and wife and Thomas Ilenshaw, of Portland, are registered at the Occident. O. A. Landen returned yester- )ny from his attendance at the Wash ington and Oregon conferences of the M. 13. Church. As before stated, lie lias been appointed to the Battery Street church at Seattle. Mr. Landen with his family will leave here for that city on Saturday morning. Rev. J, W. Rushong, T. D., who succeeds him here and who will arrive here on Frl day, is a man CO years of nge and one i.l' the most talented and popular pas tors in the state. He Is an excellent ppeaker, a man of fine presence, and will be, no doubt, a great power tor good among his congregation. Mr. Hu thong came originally from Trinity Church, Cincinnati, from which pas torate he was transferred four years iigo to the Centennial Church In East ' Portland, where ho has remained ever since. He leaves there tomorrow, hav ing been the main cause of that city now being able to boast of a magnifi cent $75,000 stone church, built almost solely owing to his untiring efforts.
