W. Fulton and his camping party will be home today. The lust Is sue of the Grand Rapids Press says: "Tuesday morning Senator C. W. Ful ton and Phil . Stokes, another promi nent Astorian, came down from the camp of the Astoria pleasure seekers at the Flsh.ha.wk Falls and went hunt ing with C. A. Bottom and his sons Dave and Willie. Clyde Fulton had In tended to come with them, but as the morning was damp and cold he "backed out" with the result that he missed the first day's exciting sport. The scene of the hunt was laid in the mountains on the east side of the Ne halem between thlB city and Jewell. Several deer were started up by the men and dogs, and Senator Fulton Bhot one, but the other escaped. The deer was carried in to the Shaffer farm where they had left their horses and there packed and taken into camp. Clyde came along Wednesday and took Into camp a wild-cat as his trophy, but the other hunters ,got nothing for their second day's work." Yesterday morn ing at 9 o'clock he made a second con fession to Sheriff Smith, in which he acknowledges his story of yesterday as a lie, and pays that he alone murdered Snellman for his money. His state ment is: 'The other statement I made was true except where I said my shipmate did the killing, that was not true. I knocked Snellman over the head with a stone and cut him afterwards and took all his money. I cut him with that knife (pointing to one the sheriff had in his hand) with the small blade. I was afraid that after I took his mon ey and he was not dead, he would have me arrested for taking the mon ey. Snellman and I were sober at the time." Belter's preliminary investigation will be held this morning before Judge Cleveland. The prisoner has not yet any attorney, and will no doubt waive examination. EXTENDED SYMPATHY. One of the most pleasant events of the summer at Upper Astoria, oc curred on the evening of the 24th Inst., the occasion being the marriage of Mr, H. A. Larson and Miss Amelia Rask, both of this city. At 8 o'clock the Scan dinavian M. B. church was comfort ably filled with friends and acquaint ances anxious to witness the ceremony. Promptly at 8:20, to the air of a march, the bride and groom proceeded to the altar. The bride was dressed in a dove colored costume with rich' cream-colored lace at the wrists and neck, and looked very natural and pretty. Miss Johanna Williams and Miss Thea Lar son were brides-maids, while Mr. C. Howgard and Mr. Ole Olsen h'ad the honor of officiating as best men. The ceremony performed was in the Scan dinavian language, by Rev. Louis Wal by, assisted by Rev. Aug. Peterson of the First Scandinavian M, B. church of Portland. After Mr. and Mrs. Larson bad received the congratulations of all, a bountiful repast was partaken of in the lecture room of the church, where coffee, sandwiches, cakes, and "Jule Cake" were provided, followed, by an abundance of Ice cream and fruit. Af ter half an hour spent In social Inter course, songs, etc., an Invitation was extended to all to visit the home of the contracting parties and a pleasant sur prise awaited everybody.
