LIBERTY IN DOSES.
Our American freedom is evidently
too much for some of the foreigners
in the Midway Flalsance, and the ef
fect of sudden transition from beneath
the grinding heel of despotism to the
unstinted liberty of this great republic
has proved disastrous In some cases.
First the Eskimos took to thumping
their manager; then old King Bull, of
the Lapland village developed alurm
Ing alcohollo and pugilistic tendencies;
the Arabs have been in a perpetual
state of eruption ever since their ar
rival, and the Dahomans show indica
tions of a thirst for blood second only
to that developed by Governor Walte,
of Colorado. Now It Is the waiters In
the German village who have raised
the standard of revolt, and they have
taken to polling the representatives of
constituted government with mustard
pots, beer mugs, vinegar cruets and
other handy vessels, to the great scan
dal of 'the World's Fair authorities.
It Is evident that the pendulum has
swung too far. These people should
be given the air of freedom In homeo

ed on all at once. No one Is enslaved,
no one Is a serf In this liberty loving
