Savage, superintendent of the Oregon agricultural department at the World's Fair, says the Statesman, has about eighty bushels of . choice wheat ready to be given away to persons in terested in Oregon, but he has not yet commenced to haul It out for the rea son that the awards have not yet been made In the wheat contest and he Is afraid ' If samples were freely given now that- some of the states would se cure enough samples to make an ex hibition jar which would bo entered in competition against the golden grain of Oregon. As there is no wheat at Chicago to compare with that of Oregon the decision to withhold the distribution of the samples for a few weeks la a wise one. Thi3 sample grain Is in small sacks, each contain ing about a gill,, and on the sacks are printed the words "Oregon Wheat," together with a seal of the state.
