Huntington, thinks ho sees In the extinction of small paper money, the restriction of the limit of legal tender of silver, and issuance of three hundred million dollars worth of bonds, the key to open the. door of better time and renewed prosperity; ' and Incidentally the solution of the vexed s'lver question. Bands, bonds, bonds! The cry of Wall street, the pet of European In vestors; and the Issuance of them, the Interest to be duly paid In gold, would only mean the annual : de portation of 19,000,000, more of the rich man's money, and that much greater tax laid on the Industry. Mayhap the growing pros perity of an Increasing nation would make that particular burden a light one, even taking Into consideration that eventually, the principal must he paid as well as the Interest. But, there are iwcH cither considerations. The acceptance of the demand would be the entering wedge to still greater Issue of bonds, for it Is an easy way to got cash In quantities; and secondly, before these bonds would have ma tured, the vastly Increased populutlon w'll so have decreased the working man's wages, and the metal to pay the bunds, not being capable of any thing llko expansion or production In the same ratio, the bonds, that Is to say, the means for fulfilling the obli gation they imposed, would have got so much farther from the people who Will have the paying to do, that the face value would by no means measure the amount of natural products and productive energy required. We want nu more bonds issued. As a war measure It was an absolute necessity. In times of peace, not even the machinations of ' Wall street, should compel the government to put out another dollar's worth. If that r. sort U the ultimatum of the Hunt lnsrtonlans, we shall have to find other ptatesmen and leaders to do the Mimes si t and lead the peoplo up from the wlldernena of financial straits. Restricting the legal tender limit of silver seems to be an absurd way of forelnH subsidiary coin Into circula tion, even accepting its dependant scheme of putting out no paper money 1bs than a (lvo-dollar bill. We are told that the treasury bus Issued sil ver certificates for various sums, from on dollur to ten thousand, against the coins aotualiy In the possession of tha government. Those notes aro In circulation, and are convenient sub stitutes for the coin. They are unre stricted legal tender, and pass from hand to hand with so great readiness that they are preferred to gold coin in the business of the country. If the coining machines were run to full capacity, and all the bar Bllver In the treasury vaults were stamid and stored, and silver certificates Issued against tt, the Increase In the vol ume of currency would be some relief. I) tier than that It would Indicate that tho government and people of the Unit ed State refuse to longer be dictated to by Lombard street in London and Wall Btrec In New York. The free silver men now In conven tion In Chicago go to lengths almost as unhealthy as their rivals, the con tract lonlsta. The middle course la al ways the safest; and, neither In pub- lie nor private affairs, does It do to rush from extreme to extreme. Mr, Cleveland and Ms secretary of the treasury are hand In glove with the Bold manipulators. That statement run? be challenged but cannot b dis proved by our esteemed democratic cun- t.'inporarlea; and in the attempt to dlo- I- r. eonansa, rrMch Mr. Cleveland will inevitably make, that body, com posed largely of free coinage adher ants, will, notwithstanding a large par tisan majority, be very likely to refuse submission to Mr. Cleveland's boswlnm. The outcome will probably be a com promise; but one in which the issuance of bonds, tha restriction of the silver legal tender limit, or the abolition of one and two dollar bills will play no part. Not one of them Is necessary. The Astorlan having "blundered" In to stating a fact, regarding an ex-nlg-ger mlnstral and supposed editor, hwo was boycotted out t Victoria, 1?. C, It might bo as well to keep on "blunder ing" and mention that the, aforeiiald boycott was because the ex-nlggcr min strel and life-time enemy of tho la boring man, ratted the Standard of that city, and had his name suggest ively linked with thut of a slant-eyed, plg-talled exile from the Flowery King dom. It i to be hoped that tho no torious rat and foe of organized labor will not repeat his blunders here, or give The Astorlan opportunity for fur ther "blundering" on facts which nviy not be disputed. We oueht never to forget, even those of us who possess vigorous health, that we are wearing out that the vital clock work, bo to speak, must event ualtv run down. This, of course, we cannot prevent, because it is In the ordinary course of nature, but we may retard the too speedy arrival of decay by the use of an invigorant wWch takes rank of every other namely, Hostet ter's Stomach Bitters. This century has not witnessed a parallel In success to this famous medicine, which not only sustains health by promoting vigor, but overcomes constipation, dyspepsia, chills and fever, nervousness, rheuma tisnt. and other disordered conditions of the system fostered by weakness and an impoverished condition of the blood. The feeble, persons convalescing after exhausting disease, and the aged, derive infinite benefit from the use of this helpful and efficient tonic. A recent New York dispatch reads: "James C. 11 , a line looking and apparently healthy man, was observed to stagger while walking on Fifth Avenue this afternoon, nnd after taking one or two un certain steps fell to the sidewalk.
