Tha New York presbytery has deel' ded that it won't hava women deacons. Th rtriita of tha women In the churches are these: They shall repre sent four-fifths of the church-goers and nlneteen-twentleths of the attendants at prayer meetings. They shall do all the mission work, contribute all the enthusiasm for Sunday schools, parish labors and church holiday festivals, but they shall have no voice in the ex ecutlvecouncll, because once on a time St. Paul made a few disparaging re marks about sisters who sought promi nence. To those who are not associa ted with the church there is nothing more surprising than tlu attitud of the church toward tlioji who are its main supporters. The proposition of Mr. Nolf, as out lined in another column, seems deserv ing of encouragement in every possi ble way. Both the new road and tho boat house should be secured, as As toria would then have not only one first-class and much needed pleasure re sort, but also a suburban road that would by Its noally ad -cii.it- the cltj more widely than couli be done In many more expensive ways, as the At lantlo coast alone -s tKis far able to boast of havlrttf In su.eess.Vl i-i crallon one of the Mcycle railroad syHtcms. The proposed administration tariff bill Is giving spasms of intense delight to the editors who worship everything that is English. One " tliem prefaces a commendatory editorial thusly: "At the country grotfs in population and wealth we Jrs ipproulilng more and more in nr.loml 1ok1IiI t-n to the methods prajllvl In England.'' These toadies would welcome a king and a hereditary house of lords. In view of the known opinions of Secretary Carlisle It would seem that Mr. Cleveland rather overdid the thing with "My emphatic contradiction of the statement that the redemption of any kind of treasury notes except in gold has at any time been determined upon or contemplated by the secretary of the treasury." Senator Hansbuugh of North Dacota says: "The ti.cn who an buylnc gold and shipping it out f tlio country to- cause It Is proltaMe, nro making new converts every day to the free coinage of silver." Healthy women are the hope of the race, and it is well-nigh criminal to neglect anything which promises relief. 'f here is Aoefor all sufferers from Kervout Diseases. Read what follows: Mrs. Jennie C. Davis, a fine artist and an accomplished authoress, of Westfield, Win., had been subject to headache ever since she could remember. So severe were her at tacks as to cause at times temporary delirium. All treatment had failed to relieve her, but after Using Dr. Miles Restorative Nervine she writes : " My record is to me, at least, satisfactory. No headache, constantly in creasing appetite, and a consequent gain in weight of two ana a nan pounus in jusv one week." , Six weeks later she writes: "Ilave read and sewed immoderately of late, but my. headaches do not return.1' Mrs. John R. Miller.of Valparaiso, Ind, was attacked three years ago with turn of life in its worst form. It finally went to her bead, and all indications were that it would resuH either in insanity or softening of the brain. Her husband thus writes: " It would be impossible for me to attempt a description of her sufferings during all this time. She was treated Dy our very uesi iocai puysiuiuns, with but temporary benefit. She has taken four bottles of Dn. Miles' Restorative Nervine, and is cured. She has gained twentv pounds in weieht. I tell yon, she often blesses you for what you have done for her." Recollect that for the ctke of all er- voui Diseases there is no remedy which ap proaches Dr. Miles' Restorative- Nervine, It is free from dangerous drugs and opiates.
