The Supremo Court of Georgia held, in the recent case Tho Ocean Steamship Company vs. Cheeney, that a steamship company was not liable in damages for an injury to its laborer employed in stowing cotton in tho hold of its vessel, by a bale of cotton thrown down tho hatchway, where tho injury was caused by the failure of tho hatch-tender (who was usually the engine-driver or was taken indiffex enQy from the laborers employed in loading the vessel) to give warning of the approach of tho falling-bale, whether it was thrown when the hatch-tender was present and failed to give tho warning, or, while he was absent, it was thrown without notice by another servant engaged in tho same business.
