Alost housekeepers know how in valuable newspapers aro for packing away the winter clothing, tho printing ink acting as a defiance to the stout est moth, some housewives think, as successfully as camphor or tar paper. For this reason newspapers are inval uable under the carpet, laid over tho regular carpet paper. Tho most val uable quality of newspapers iu the kitchen, however, is their ability to keep out the air. It is well known that ice, completely enveloped in newspapers so that all air is 6hnt out, will keep a longer iinio than under other conditions; and that a pitcher of ice-water laid in a newspaper, with tho ends of the paper twisted together to exclude tho air, will remain all night in any summer room with scarcely any perceptible melting of iho ice. These facts shonld be utilized o'tener than they aro in ths care of the &ick at night. In f reez ing ice cie m. when the ice is scarce, pack tho freezer only three-qnarlers mil with ice and salt and finish with newspapers, and the difference in the time of freezing aud quality of the cream is not perceptible from Iho re snl' where Iho freezer is packed full of ice After removing tho dasher it is better to cork up the cream and over it t'gatly with a packing of newspapers than to use more ice.
