Kaxsas Citt, Nov. 17. About six
o'clock this morning as a freight train
carrying employes of Armour's pack
ing house on their tvay. to work, and
loaded with hay and grain, was cross
ing a bridge over tho Kaw river near
this city on tho Kansas City, "Wyandott
& Northern railway, one span of the
bridge gaveQway and precipitated five
cars into the-river, thirty feet below.
It is not known how many persons
were on board tho train, but there
may have been anywhere from twelve
to twenty so far as names are known.
The list of the rescued comprises only
four members of the train crew and.
one or two colored men, who were
residing across the bridge.
The following is a list of the killed
and wounded so far as known.
lulled. Henry Coleman, (colored),
Will Crawford, (colored), Fred Allan,
foreman. Harry Williams, (colored).
Injured. S.V. Smith, of Latham,
Kas., stockman,' Badly bruised about
the body aud legF.
C. Patchen, of Kansas City, jaw
fractured, and badly cut and bruised.
li. E. Latimer, (colored), of Kansas
City, several ribs broken.
The following employes of tho Ar
mour company got aboard the' ill
fated train, and as they have neither
put in an appearance at the packing,
houses nor at their homes it is feared
they were killed: Frank Wall, Ed.
Burke, (elevator man); Dan Brown,
(beef killer), and Ned Bell, (pipe
filler). Three tramps, who boarded
the train several stations up the road,
are also missing and are supposed to
have been killed and their bodies bur
ied under the wreckage '"'
A MASKED ROBBER.
He Robs an Express Office of a

Tipton-, Ind., Nov. 17. The United
States Express Company office-, was
robbed of a package containing STOOO
at an eaily hour this morning. Elmer
Mqekin, the agent of tho company,
received a package from the messenger
of the north bound train at 1233
o'clock and was leaving the office
when ho was attacked by a masked
man. Meekin was knocked senseless
and tho keys to the safe taken
and tho money package stolen.
Meekin regained consciousness before
the robber departed and opened firel

turned the fire and seriously injured
the agent's right hand. There is no
clue to the robber.
Insurance Companies Suspend.

Lumbermen and Manufacturers' Eire
Insurance Company, and the Mutual
Eire Association were this morning
placed in the hands of a receiver. The
business of tho companies was con
fined mostly to Wisconsin, Minnesota
andHlinois. The assets are $150,000
and largely in excess of tho liabil
ities. Charged With Murder.

Cnrly, a young pi umber, was arrested
to-day on suspicion of being the mur
derer of a Chinaman who was beaten
to death on the street last Monday
night The police have several wit
nesses who say they saw Curly near
the scene of the murder carrying a
large club.

owned by Jerry Byan. Tho fire de

Stater. To this end he has sacrificed
friends as well as enemies of the party,
and, if. awe, he'wonld probably sacri
fice everything else, but he will never

SPOTTED FEVER.
The Dread Disease Re-Appears
In Tennessee.

GAiiiiATix, Tenn., Nov. 17. Dread
ful spotted fever that made its appear
ance last March near Fountain Head,
about fifteen miles from Gallatin, kill
ing about ninety per cent of tho vic
tims, has re-appeared. James Simson,
living in the affected section has lost
three grown sons, all in about two
days. He has since moved within
about three miles of Gallatin and now
his daughter has a genuine case. The
young lady is about 13 years old.
Tho doctors do not know how to

case of pugilists Slavin and McAulifie,
on trial for assault on each other and
for committing a breach of tho peace,
disagreed and were discharged. The
court thereupon released the men
upon entering individual recogni

two sureties in 250 each to maintain
