That very great interest in furs, in lumber and in mining arc to be devel oped there is beyond question. It is not impossible that agriculture in some lines may be possible to an ex tent that will furnish, at least par tially, those engaged in other occupa tions with sustenance. And that there is vast mineral wealth there waiting to be discovered is an impression so general and so well warranted by ana logies of physical fact that it can hardly be a mere delusion. At any rate Alaska is now of sufficient import ance to lis to warrant an effort on our part to secure larger and more reliable information concerning it. The pro posed exploration will be of great pub lic interest, and promises enough ot value in results to warrant its approval. Iboticc.
