The British ship Aiineslcifl&Ql tons register, Capt V. Ewarts, 150 days from Liverpool arrived yesterday. She brings 2,360 tons of general cargo. The caplnin reports encountering heavy westerly gales north of the Horn and also encountered a cyclone 16 ft"., in the north Pacific. Capt. Ewarts is accompanied by his wife and eight-year-old son. . The steam schooner Alliance ar- nv cd from Gray s harbor yesterday Among her cargo from Aberdeen were uin'o government-mule3 that have been used by Lieutenant O'Neil sur veying the Olympic mountains. They are to be taken to Vancouver. Among her passengers are four men of the surveying party under tlio leadership of M. Price. She went up to Portland last night. Tho British ship Anncsley, Capt. W. Ewart, from Liverpool yester day, has a cargo consigned principally to Portland. In addition to general merchandise, consisting of liquors, earthenware, firebrick, etc., she has 3,751 boxes of tin plate, 200 of which is for this port, 1,910 for Portland and 1.G35 to order. The latler will probably be delivored hare. The steamship City of lopeia, Cap!. "Wallace, from Alaska, via Port Towusend, arrived yesterday. bringing thiriy Astoria fishermen from tho canneries at Alaska and b,bl7 cases of salmon for this port as fol fel fol eows: 2,533 for 31morc, Sanborn & Co., 2,881 for D. A band of masked men went to the house of a Mrs. Cody and dragged her from bed with the intention of flogging her. She had only gone a short distance when a volley was fired and several loadsof buckshot look effect in her side, infliclinir fatal wounds.
