general states that an alien does not
become a citizen by taking out bis
first papers. In Idaho, Governor
Snoup Las forbidden registrars of
election to register those who have
taken out only their first papers.
A telbgeam was received in Se
attle last Monday by General Agent
Xadeau from Superintendent IVIcCabe
of the Northern Pacific, stating that a
car "with black bass to stock the lakes
in that vicinity had left St Paul.
On arrival the fish were to be immedi
ately put in the lakes. Some exper
ienced fishermen have expressed the
opinion that the black bass would de
stroy the native fish in the lakes on
this coast The result of the experi
ment remains to bo seen.

prising one twelve-inch high power

reads:
Every citizen sball, after notice of
bis enrolment, be constantly provided
witb n good musketry or firelock, of a
bore sufficient for balls of tbo eight
eenth part of a pound, a sufficient bay
onet and belt, two spare ilints and a
knapsack, a pouch with a box
therein, to contain not less than
twenty-four cartridges suited to the
bore of bis musket or firelock, each
c irtridge to contain a proper quantity
of powder and ball, or with a good
title, laiapsack, shot-pouch and powder
horn, Iweuiy balls suited to the bore
of his rifle, and a quarter of a pound
of )owder, and sball appear so armed,
accoutred and provided when called
out to oxerciso and into service.
Each commissioned officer
shall be armed with a sword or hanger
and spontoon.
Section 1G32 The officers
(of cavalry) should be armed with
sword or banger, a fusee, bayonet and
belt, witb a cartridge box to contain
twelve cartridges. Each
dragoon shall furnish himself with
a serviceable horse, at least four
teen and a half bauds high, a good
paddle, bridle, mail-pillion and valise,
bolsters and a breastplate and crup
