Tatoosh letter in Friday Harbor Graphic: Tho halibut fishers are reaping a rich harvest this summer here, and very often they come in from a few hours' fishing with from twenty to forty large halibut per man. The famous Flattery banks are aboat twelve miles northwest of our light, and 33 I write I can see the fishing steam schooner Qeorge H-. Chance of Portland, Ore., lying at anchor and loading with those flat beaubes of the deep. The Chance unloads her cargo at Portland, and they are immedi ately shipped east to Kansas City, Omaha, Chicago and other points. This branch of industry is yet iu its infancy, but I fancy that ere long I will be able to-count on that same bauk not one but scores of fine fish ing schooners. The salmon have jest put in an ap pearance here, and the" Indians are busy trolling for them, although there is so mnch bait around the capo now they will not bite well for a week or ten days at least The whales, sea lions, sharks and hair seals are making things lively for the salmon, and when a whale rolls in where tho salmon are thick, I can see the speckled beanfae3 jump two or three feet out of the water. One Indian yesterday killed seven seals, and the largest one would weigh 409 pounds, if not more. From Cape Flattery to the bend op posite our light there aro twenty-two caves, and the seals go in thoro to en joy a quiet snooze, but the Indiau glides up iu his little canoe, hits tho poor seal a tap on tho nose, and quietly transfers him from his shady resting place to tho bottom of his light canoe, and then turns his attention to seal No. 2. When the tide i3 light tho Indians have a enrious way of hunting seals iu these caves, which is quho curious to seo. An -Lnaian witn a naming torcn on liis head swim3 into tho cave ami the seals crowd around him in wonder at this strange visitation, when Indian No. 2 steals up noiselessly in his canoe and knocks them on the head with a club made expressly for that purpose. "Wishing to largely increase tho circulafion. of this paper during the next six months, wo have made arrangements with a New York publishing houaa whereby wc are enabled to offer aa a premium to onr subscribers a Set of tho Works of Charles Dick ens, m Tvrclve .Large and Handsome Volumes, with a year's subscription to this paper, for atriflo more than our Tegular sub scription price. Our great offer to subscribers eclipses any ever heretofore made. Charles Dickens was tho greatest novelist who over lived. No author before or since his time baa won tho fame that be achieved, andbis works aro even more-popular to-day than during bis lifetime. They abound in 'wit, humor, pathos, masterly delineation of character, vjm uesenpuons 01 places ana isciuents, thrilling ana skillfully wrought plots. Each book is intensely interesting. No nomesuould bo without a set of these great and remark" ablo works. Not to have read them is to ba far behind tho 3go in which we live. The set of Dickens' works which wa nflAr . premium to onr subscribers is handsomoly printed from entirely new plates, with new type. Tho twolvo volumes contain tbo. following world-famous works, each one ol which is pub lished complete, unchanged, and absolutely unabridged : -. r.-wisiii CHABIXS DICKER. DAVID COPPERF1ELD, KIARTIN CHUZZLEW1T, NICHOLAS NICKELBY, DOMBEY AND SON, BLEAK HOUSE, LITTLE DORRIT, OUR MUTUAL FRIEND, PICKWICK PAPERS, BARNABY RUDCE AND CHRISTMAS STORIES, OLIVER TWIST AND GREAT EXPEC TATIONS, THE OLD CURIOSITY .SHOP AND THEUNCOMMERCIALTRAVELER, A TALE OF TWO CITIES, HARD TIMES AND THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. Tho abovo aro without question the most famous novels that were over written. For quarter of a century thoyhavo been celebrated in every nook and corner of tho civilized world, lot there aro thousands of homes in America not yet supplied with a set of Dickens, tho usual high coat of tho hooka preventing peoplo in moderate circumstances from enjoying this luxury. But now, owing to tho uso of modern improved printing, folding and Batching machinery, tho extremely low prico of whito paper, and tho groat competition in the book trade, wo are enabled to offer to our subscribers and readers a sot of Dickens' works at a price which all can afford to pay. .Every n0mo in the land may now bo supplied With a set of- tbo great rrathor'a works. . w Onr Great Offer to Sitafes to be " Weefly Astoriao."
