San Francisco, Sspt 17. The annual meeting of tbo Pacific Coast Board of Commerce in the Chamber of Commerce rooms wes held this afternoon, and was presided over hy Preadent Samuel Collyer, of Tacoma, and was attended by about twenty five delegates, representing the follow ing organizatiens: Portland Chamber of Commerce, San Francisco Produce Exchange, Tacoma Chamber of Com merce, L03 Angeles Chamber of Com merce, California State Board of Trade, Pasadexa Board of Trade, Fairhaven (Wash.) Board of Trade, and the Astoria Chamber of Com merce. The Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Helena, Montana, Board of Trade, and Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, were admitted to membership upon the recommendation of the committee on credentials. Among the resolu tions adopted it was resolved that the Pacific Coast Board of Commerce re quest our senators and representa tives in Congress to use their influence to so modify the provisions of the tariff bill, now under consideration, that it may not unjustly discriminate against the Pacific coast merchants. While three months i3 ample time for shipments made prior to August 1st to arrive at Atlantic ports, it is not so with the Pacifio coast ports, and it would be only just, and it would not injure any one if the present tariff should be continued to cover all shipments prior to August 1, 1890, without regard to the time of arrival. Mr. Osborn, chairman of the Port land delegation, brought up. the sub ject of Oregon's census, complaining of injustice done the state by the re cent result He urged that this was a matter affecting the entire country, since it prevented Oregon from secur ing an additional representation in Congress. Ho offered this resolutien: "Resolved, That the body of com merce in session earnestly request of the secretary of the interior a re-enumeration of the state of Oregon, except the county of Multnomah and the four Salem precincts, which have been recounted as a matter of justice to the Pacific coast." A Seattle delegate made a number of factious remarks about Oregon needing all the popula tion she could count "The trouble is ward politicians did your counting; the people did ours," he remarked proudly. The resolution was adopted. Boycotting Outgoing Steamers. Special to Tiik Astokiw.I Mkdboubn-e, Sept 17.
