"MVeldless tubes of steel aro now
made in Germany by theMannesmann
process out of solid bars. A pair of

stretched and a hollow is made in tho
center. Tho tubes made by this pro

A warning against undue physical
exertion by those not accustomed to it
is contained m the remark of the chief
surgeon of the National Soldiers'
home at Dayton, O. This physician
says that of the 5,000 soldiers in the
home "fully 80 per cent, are suffering
from heart disease in some form or
another, due to the forced physical ex
ertions of their campaigns."
Dr. Sscbo, a celebrated French phy
sician, says that an excessive 'palpita

rested by bending double, with tho
head downward and the hands pend

gestion of the upper part of the bodv.
In almost all cases of nervous or
anemic palpitation, tho heart imme
diately resumes its natural function.
If the respiratory movement be sus
pended during this action, the effect
is only the more rapid.

is tho Klatena, flowing from tho west
ward, and tho next in volume is tho
