A Lady Told the Reporter.
One of "Walla Walla's modest young
enumerators had a rare experience,
says the Statesman. In one of the
families he visited he found the mother
in hed, while three little children tum
bled around promiscuously at their
own innocent will. The enumerator
with some diffidence, inquired of the
lady it sue was sick. Hue replied,
with a sly twinkle in her eye, that she
was. Our young census taker then "
informed her that it was his dutv to .
record the nature of her disease.
Without unnecessary parley, she
pulled down the covers and revealed
to the blushing enumerator as plump
a specimen of infantile humanity as
was ever beheld. Tho first name to
be given to it will be the same as that
of the blushing young census taker
for north Walla Walla district, and
the reporter has the facta, from the
lady herself.
They Scj Stars.
The admission of Idaho is a serious
disaster to the Connecticut flag manu
facturers. When the states of Mon
tana, Washington andthetwoDakotcs
wero admitted, the manufacturers
flooded the country with circulars
imploring all good patriots to call in
their thirty-eight starred Hags as
obsolete, and purchase new ones with
a glorious galaxy of forty-two. Wy
oming's admission raises "the number
of asterisks to forty-four, aud as the
Connecticut manufacturers have a
mammoth stcckof the forty-two brand
on hand, they are seeing stars in a
most unpleasant manner.

get to the front, and Yernonia will be
reached this winter, and soreheads
and kickers may continue to grunt or
go off aud eat soup with a splinter. -Yernonta
