He was talking to aWasli- ington Post reporter about his experience during the last campaign ; when he spent some six weeks be-, tween Democratic headquarters in New York and his various assignments t through the country. The Democratic party just before and after the election last fall, re minded me," said he, "of the last coon j hunt 1 ever went on. "We had had a i tremendous chase through the swamp 1 for about four hours, and the dogshad ' SS'EKfis shinned up till be spied the animal auuK-j ai-Mcu ,iuj wuuu a ayieuu- ing limb. "He climWdTont on the I limb below and got agood grip on the i,uuu o aji.caii.'wiA " 'Git de dogs un'er de tree. he I shouted; 'coon's a-comin' down.' "No sooner did he give the limb a vigorous shake than the one on which he stood cracked and began to give away rapid!. 'Git de dogs fm ud'erde tree;' he yelled; 'hit's me dat's comin' down.' " Captain Allen came in from his last Connecticut speech on the eve of elec tion and went over to headquarters to hear returns. After the first favorable indications.the tide turned and Dem ocratic hopes went glimmering. Long after Gorman and the older Demo cratic managers had given up the fight, Colonel Brice held on and picked over the mass of telegram? for crumbs of comfort- Suddenly ho held out one and exclaimed: "What did I tell you? Here is a dispatch saying that California has given 10,000 Democratic majority." Brice," said Captain Allen, l" can't help thinking of Jim Coe when I hear yon talk that way." "Well wliat about Jim Coo?" replied Colonel Bill somewhat testily. "Jim.wjis an enterprising chap from my district," said Allen, "who went out to Dakota about ten years ago. We heard from him occasionally, and were glad to learn that he was pros pering. One day there came a brief telegram: Tim Coe is dead.' IIis folks telegraphed back: 'Send on the remains.' "Tii the course of a few hours tho answercame: " -There ain't no remains; Jim was hit by a cyclone.' " Druggists are best informed from ex perience what remedy is applicable to different diseases and their evidence is more valuable than that of anybody olsp. Head the following testimenial: "I have been selling Simmons Liver Regulator for ten years, and can say I never sold a medicine that has given so much satisfaction.
