Says yesterday's Orcgenian: The
Oregon Bailway Extensions company,
of which Hon. Henry Failing, of this
city, is president, and Hon. Joseph
Simon secretary, yesterday filed at
Olympia, "Wash., supplementary ar
ticles of incorporation empowering it
to build 3,000 miles of new lines in the
Korthwest-
The company will gridiron Oregon,
Washington, Idaho and Montana with
lines, all of which will bring business
to Portland. The main line will
run from Portland to Blaine,
Whatcom count', right under the
shadow of the British flag. Seattle,
Taooma and other Sound cities will be
connected with the system by branch
linos. The Columbia will be bridged
at Vancouver. The "Washington leg

poses to build are as follews:
From Portland in a northerly and
westerly direction to Astoria, with a
branch lino from the most feasible
point at or near Columbia City, wester
ly by the most practical route to For
est Grove.
From a junction with the main line
of the Oregon Hailway fc Navigation
company's railroad, about two miles
EDuthwesterly from Alto station, in
Columbia county, Wash., in a gen or
ally westerly direction, by the most
feasible route, to a point at or near
the town ofEstes, in Walla Walla
county, thence in a general south
westerly direction to Wallula, in
Walla Walla county, a distance of
about thirty-three miles.
From a point at or near the town of
Estotsin Walla Walla county, in a
general northeasterly direction to a
point of junction with the constructed
line of the Oregon Hailway & Navi
gation company's railroad at or near
Grange City, Wash., a distance of
about twenty-hvo miles.
From Texas Ferry, Wliitman county,
Wasli, in a general northerly and
easterly direction through Whitman
county, to a point of junction with the
laain line of the Washington & Idaho
railroad where it crosses Dntch fiat
near the eastern line of Whitman
county, a distance of about eighty-live
miles.
From a point at or near Centcrville,
in Umatilla county, Or., by a general
westerly direction to a point of inter
action with the main line of the Ore
gon Hailway & Navigation company's
railroad on the Columbia river at or
near Cold Spring station, in Umatilla
onnty, a distance of about thirty-five
miles.
From a point on the Baker City di
vision of the Oregon Railway fc Navi
gation company's railroad at or near
Pendleton, Or., in a general south
westerly direction to a point at or near
Heppner, Morrow county, Or.
Assistant Postmaster-General Clark
on has determined to go through to
the Pacific coast and look up for him
self the mail service in Washington,
Oregon and Montana and return in
time to report to the present session
of congress.
