This is the record of a Southern Oregon town that contained but a single dwelling prior to the extension of the Oregon & California railroad in 1883. Grant's Pass is situated on the north bank of ihe Itoguc River, in the heart of the famous valley of that name, and is surrounded by a vast country, con taining fourteen varieties of valuable woods, besides gold, silver, copper, iron, chrome, coal, limestone, marble, etc., all of which must find a market at the great manufacturing center ol Southern Oiegon Grant's Pass. ,lust think of a 50,000-hoise pow er flowing by the very door of the town, and the county teeming with the most valuable raw materials on the Pacific Coast, ilow long do you suppose" it will be before Eastern capital will find its way into this new Eldorado'.1 The advantages and commercial possibilities of Grant's Pass have already been observed by such shrewd financiers as Messrs. Corbett and Failing, who start a national bank there on the first of January with a capi tal of 30,000. These gentlemen together with J. C. Car son and C, II, Lewi-, two of Portland's -most successful j business men, are also interested largely in 130,000 sash and door factory at Giant's Tass. Property in Grant's Pass has increased 100 per cent since May 31, 1889, and is still 300 per cent lower than any town of like population in Oregon or Washington. Just think of bin ing business pioperty, all 1-vel, cleared, sidewalk, on the principal business streets and within 300 feet of a 530,000 brick opera house for TEN DOL LARS PER FRONT FOOT. Beautiful lesidence lots 50x100 feet each, all cleared, level, sunounded by handsome dwellings, and within six blocks of the heart of the city, for FIFTY DOL LARS EACH. Whole blocks, 200x220, with 20-foot alley, in same vicinity, at prices ranging from 200 to 500 per block. Theso prices will .prevail for a fow days only. All property owned by the townsite company will be advanced 100 per cent on January 1, 1890. f pw ia eh am eh m i mmw Kd7 wt mm m hi mm n mm i 20oolj JIliJI y iiuull U 7 1 Ly m g imrmm I ""'-.my.yu'jri, jjw..ia-.T i yiu 'it -ui 1 1 iLmMgagggi&aancM 11 n viaag ti m i irrwi im n iwc Av aa&&'tmma " J'"" " fin H! 3 Bq B Una ....a.. ... ... i H B IH Eg B H En HB & vSaff H 1& I - & M !
