Cough medicines, Ayer's Cherry Pec
toral is in greater demand than ever
No preparation for Throat and Lung
Troubles is so piompt in its effects, sc
agreeable to the taste, and so widelj
known, as this. It is the family medi
cine in thousands of households.
"I have suffered for years from a
bronchial trouble that, whenever I take
cold or am exposed to inclement weath
er, shows itself by a very annoying
tickling sensation in the throat and by
difficulty in breathing. I have tried a
great many remedies, but none does so
well as Ayer's Cherry "Pectoral which
always gives prompt relief in returns of
my old complaint." Ernest A. Hepler,
Inspector of Public RoadsParish Ter
re lionne, La.
" I consider Ayer's Cherry Pectoral a
most important remedy
For Home Use.
I have tested its curative power, in my
family, many times during the past
thirty years, "and have never known it
to fail. It will relieve the most serious
affections of the throat and lungs,
whether in children or adults." Mrs.
E. G. Edgerly, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
"Twenty years ago I was troubled
with a disease of tlio lungs. Doctors
afforded me no lelief and considered
my case hopeless. I then began to uso
Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, and, before I
had finished one bottle, found relief. I
continued to take this medicine until a
cure was effected. I believe that Ayer's
Cherry Pectoral saved my life."
Samuel Griggs, "Waukegan, 111.
" Six years ago I contracted a severe
cold, which settled on my lungs and
soon developed all the alarming symp
toms of Consumption. I had a cough,
uight sweats, bleeding of the lungs,
pains in chest and sides, and was so
prostrated as to be conGned to my
bed most of the time. After trying
various prescriptions, without benefit,
uiy physician finally determined to give
mo Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. I took it,
and the effect was magical. I seemed
to rally from the first dose of this
medicine, and, after using only three
bottles, am as well and sound as ever."
Rodney Johnson, Springfield, 111.

John L. Sullivan's Political Views.
John L. Sullivan is going to run
for congress. Being recently inter
viewed bv a reporter, here ia the re
sult. -
"Do you favor Samuel J. Randall's
protective Democracy or Grover
Cleveland's school of out and out free
trade?"
"I'm a Demdcrat, I am. Whatever
the party says, goes. See?"
"But, 3Jr. Sullivan, what are your
personal views on the tariff?"
"Oh, the tariff's all right. I've
nothing to say against it, at any rate
for the present."
"Do you think raw material ought
to be admitted free of duty?"
"No, sirree. But I'd put ropes,
stakes, boxing gloves aud sponges on
the free list."
"Have you any opinion to offer on
the Mill's bill?"
"Mills ought to get a show. Fellers
as want a mill'll Cght in spite of the
law on the subject."
"Do yon believe in the principles
of the immortal Jackson?"
"No sir. I don't" believe Jackson
has no principals nor backers, I pass
on Jackson. He is a nigger."
"How are you on prohibition?"
"I'm agin prohibition, but I'm for
temperance. You can state that in
your paper that I believe in temper
ance." "How do vou ptaud on the consti
tution?" "That New Orleans business settled
that. No man that fit 73 rounds has
flies on his constitution. Me consti
tution is all right. Lets go and have
something."
People of sedentary habits, who are
subject to constipation, can regulate
their bowels by tho use of Ayer's Pills.
While the Chinaman is an iuoffeu
sive aud unpretentious creature,
there are but few white people who
can excel him in shrewdness and
trickery. There was an instance in
San Francisco the other day which,
though while horrible in itself, proveB
tho assertion above made. Au old
Chinese hag arrived on the Uaelic,
having twenty-three female slaves
which she expeoted to sell. She was
refused a lauding. Some smart Chi
nese in the city then swore out a
writ of habeas corpus for the young
slaves and got them lauded, leaving
the old hag on the vessel, which is
now on its way back to China with
the slave importer on board, minus
her slaves or money.
To cure any scrofulous disease or
humor, try Ayer's. Sarsaparilla. It
cleanses the blood.
Ireland in 1879 had 5,2G5,G25 in
habitants, and the population just
made for up 18S9 is but 4,777,534. A
decrease like this is true of no other
civilized country in the world "and is
itsown condemnation of the methods
of England's government of Ireland.

If the food is not properly digested it
becomes corrupt; and poisons the sys
tem it was intended to nourish. This
is indigestion.
"My wife has suffered for many years
with indigestion. After trying every
thing else recommended, she tried Sim

after taking It according to directions
she was in perfect health; she docs not
suffer at all and can eat auything she
wants without any of her previous
symptoms." V. C. Subeks,

A PHYSICIAN'S OPINION.
"I have been practicing medicine for
twenty years and nave never been able to
put up a vegetable compound that would,
like Simmons Liver Regulator, promptly
and effectively move the Liver to action,
and at the same time aid (instead of weak
ening) the digestive and assimilative
powers of the system."

BUT THINK ABOUT THIS, A L1TTLK.
I When I used to fall down from the top
! " pantry shelves,
Bump my he'ad and moat loudly would
shout it,
Uncle Dan used to say, "You won't feel
it a bit
If you only, quit thinking about it."
The philosophy's Reed even down to this
day,
And only the foolish would scout it;
If you trip and fall over yourself it won't
hurt
If you'd only quit thinking about it.
If you've sworn that yon will die for the
girl that you love,
And believe that you surely can't doubt
it,
And zip! the match breaks! your heart
never will
If .you only quit thinking about it.
If j-our fortunes should fade iu the shad
ows of life,
And your prospects are all put to
route, it
Will be light on your mind as it He3 on
your purse
If yon only quit thinking about it.
If by lightning you're struok, though
you feel in your mind
You might live very well on without it,
Yoa will find it will not discommode you
at all
If you only quit thinking about it,
The Source of Wrinkles.
The general impression about
wrinkles is that they are caused by
worry, but the truth is that most of
them come from laughing. To know
how to laugh is just as important as
to kuow when to do it. If you laugh
with the sides of your face the skin
will work loose in time, and wrinkles
will form in exact accordance with
the kind of laugh yon have. The
man who" always wears a smirk will
have n series of semi-circular wrin
kles covering hiB cheeks. A gambler,
who is aoustomed to suppress his
feelings generally has a deep line run
ning from each side of his nose to the
upper cornor of his mouth, which in
course of time extends- to the chin,
forming tho shape of a half-moon.
A cadaverous person ia usually
marked with two wrinkles, oue on
the jaw and the other under the eye,
meeting at right angles at the oheek
bones. The Boholar's wrinkles form
ou his brow, while-a schomer's wrin
kles come around his eyes, aud looks
like spokes of a wheel.

A DUTY TO YOUUSELK.
It is surprising that people will use a
common, ordinary pill when they can
secure a valuable English one for the
same money. Dr. Acker's English pills
are axuir ire cure for sick-headache and
all liver troubles. They are small,
sweet, easly taken and do not gripe. .1.
