A Fisherman Drowned.
Port Townseio). Oct. 14. Harry
Nelson, a Danish fisherman, un
married, was accidentally drowned
yesterday in Port Townsond bay, by
the accidental capsizing of a sailboat
while out with a party ot friends.
Nelson was returning from Glennan
when a squall of wind threw them
into the foaming sea. The rest of
the party managed to drift ashore.
A Successful Casting.
San Francisco, Oct. 14. The stem
of a new coast defense vessel was suc
cessfully cast at the Pacific rolling
mills to-day. Sixteen thousand
pounds of molten steel were poured
into the mold for the stem.
