"I have derived great relief from
Ayer'a Pills. Five yeara ago I was

Peter Christensen, Sherwood, "Wis.
"Ayer's Pills bave been in use in my
family upwards of twenty years and
have completely verified all -that is
claimed for them. In attacks of piles,
from which I suffered many -years, they
afford greater relief than tiny othei

Holly Springs, Texas.
" I have used Ayer's Pills for a num

THE ELECTION RETUENS.
Washington, Montana and the Dakotas-
Send Republican Congressmen to the Na
tional Capital.
Helena, Mont., Oct. 2. The Demo
crats concede the election of Carter
to congress Toole, Democrat, is 300
ahead of Powers, Republican, for gov
ernor, with four counties, claimed
for both parties, still nnheard from.
The Democrats have thB legislature
by a small majority. The Republicans
elected a majority of the minor state
officers.
Tha Independent claims the elec
tion of Toole, Demoorat, by three to
four hundred, and a majority of nine
on joint ballot in the legislature. All
figures on majorities are estimated,
as the count is not yet completed in
any county.
IK SOUTH DAKOTA.
Pibbrb, S., D. Oct. 2 South Da
kota's first state election descended
to a degrading soramble for the cap
ital looation. There was no fight on
anything else. "
Mellotte is elected - governor by
over 20,000 majority.
Pickler and Clifford go to congress.
The Republican majority in the
legislature will be at least sixty, in
suring the eleotion of two Republican
United States senators.
The vote is enormous, probably 80,
000 for the capital. Pierre. Huron,
Watertown, Chamberlin. Sioux Falls
and Mitchel were entered. Reports
recewed this morning indicated the
vote for Pierre at 26,000, Huron 21,
000. Sioux Falls 11,000, Watertown
10,000, Mitchell 7,000 and Chamber
Iain 5,000.
Huron claims to have secured the
oapital, as also does Sioux Falls.
Little attention is given to minor
ity representation. It is doubtless
defeated.
The fate of prohibition hangs in
the balance. On a square fight it
wonld probably have been carried,
but. the votes on this question were
recklessly traded on the oapital loca
tion, Abebdbek, S. D., Oct. 2. The Re
publican state central committee esti
mates this morning the Republican
state ticket eleoted by 20,000 major
ity; that prohibition is carried by
from 10.000 to 15,000 majerity: that
Pierre has 25.000 votes for the tempo
rary capital
Sioux FaiiIiS, Dak., Oct. 2. Up to
11 p. m. specials to the Daily Fress
show the following condition of af
fairs in the capital centest: Pierre
13,924, Huron 11,776, Sioux Falls 11,
410. The success of Pierre is gener
ally oonoeded.
NORTH DAKOTA.
Farqo, Dak., Oot. 2 The total
vote is not as heavy sb expected,
probably about 37,000. Many people
have moved away from Ramsey, Eddy
and Nelson counties, owing to the
failure of crops.
The contest over the judgeships Jb
extremely olose.
The prohibitionists claim to have
carried the territory. Fargo, Bis
marok and Grand Forks vote strongly
pro-liquor, and unprejudiced calcula
tors believe the prohibitionists are
beaten by at least 2,000.
The constitution is .indorsed with a
rousing majority.
Returns to 11 o'clock this morning
at the headquarters of the Republi
can state central , committee give
Miller, Rep., a majority over Roach
for governor of. 5,172. The average
Republican majority is 7,000. Hans
breugh's majority for congress is
8,000. Private returns show a total
majority of 2,100 against prohibi
tion. Sixty-eight Republican members
of the legislature are known to be
elected. The Republicans claim a
total of 75. Ex-governor Pieroe's
friends claim 71 on joint ballot for
U. S. senator. , " r
