BOARDED BV A PIRATE. . San Francisco, Sept 19. This morning a man boarded the Ilumber schooner Laura May, lying at the Puget Sound Lumber Co.'a wharf, in uanianu. John ;nglebndere the sec ond mate was awakened by the noise ana grappled with the lutruder. The pirate drew a knife and slashed the mate several times. The melee was carried on to the deck when- the first mate was aroused and during the fight badly cut about the hands. The robber then dropped into the wa ter and swam off. The thief got away with a watch and chain belong ing to the second mate. The second mate who w.is most severely cut was slashed several times' in the breast and has a long gash in his arm.
