Beauty
Is desired -and admired by all. Among
the things whi ! may best be done to
enhance personal
beauty is the daily

the hair, this prepa
ration gives ita lus
tre and pliancy that
adds greatly to its
I'hurin. Should the
ban be thin, harsh, ,
T dry, or turning gray,
Ayer's Hair Vigor
will restore the
color, bring out a
new crowth, and
render the old soft and shiny. For
keeping the scalp rlean, cool, and
healthy, there is no better preparation
in the market.
"I am free to confess that a trial of
Ayer's Hair Vigor has convinced me
that it is a genuine article. Its use has
not only caused the hair of my wife and
daughter to be
Abundant and Glossy,
but it has given my rather stunted mus
tache a respectable length and appear
ance." R. Britton, Oakland, Ohio.
"My hair was coming out (without
any assistance fiom my wife, either).
I tried Ayer's Hair Vigor, using only
one bottle, ami I now have as tine a
head of hair as anv one could wish for."
It. T. Schmittoif, Dickson, Tenn.
" I have used Ayer's Hair Vigor in my
family for a number of years, and re
gard it as the best hair preparation I
know of. It keeps the scalp clean, the
hair soft and lively, and preserves the
original color. My wife has used it for
a long time withmost satisfactory re
sults." Hen jamiu M. Johnson, M. D.,
Thomas Hill, Mo.
' My hair was becoming harsh and dryj
but after using half a bottle of Ayer'3
Hair Vigor it grew black and glossy. I
cannot express the jov and gratitude I

A Kentucky Suicide.
Andy Boiling was a bad citizen of
Jackson county, says the Louisville
Courier-Journal, ana bad killed half a
dozen of his fellow citizens. One even
ing Boiling killed his seventh man in
Clover Bottom. The next-day a coron
er's jury was impaneled-to inquire into
the affair. The testimony was that the
deceased bad called Boiling "a lir," and
that Boiling immediately drew his pistol
and fired, killing the man who hud in
sulted him at the -first shot.
The jury went out to deliberate, and
after a short timereturned the following
verdict:
'We find that the .deceased, Henry
Jones, committed suicide."
The coroner was amazed. "I shall not
receive the verdict," he said; "the testi
mony was positive that Andy .Boiling did
the killing."
"Yes," replied the foreman, "andlhi
testimony was eauallv positive and une
quivocal that the deceased was of sound
mind and in full possession of all his
.faculties just previous to-his death, and
inac wune in mis couuiuuu uo cuueu
Andy Boiling 'a liar.' It stands to
reason that if he had not meditated self
destruction he would not have been so
rash. He knew what- the consequences
would be, and ho evidentlv wanted to
die."
So the verdict of suicide stojd.

An exchange tells of an old farmer of
Oregon, who at a revival meeting, when
the preacher called npon all who wanted
to go to heaven to rise to their feet,
firmly kept his seat. When the invita
tion was given to all who wanted to go
to hell, he still remained sitting. "My
perishing friend," said the revivalist,
coming down the aisle, "you don't want
to go to heaven, or hell; may I ask where
you want to go?" "Nowhere," was the
reply, "I want to stay right here in Or
egon." And then they sang "Sweet Land
of Liberty."

WELL, IDECLIRE!
Old Silas lived threescore aud ten
Of years, to him of long surprise;
To ways of women and of men,
To ways of fleas, and fools, and flies,
To reptiles crawling on the ground,
To swift birds flying through the air,
Who mouthed but one complaint, he
feund:
"Well, I declare!"
It was hi sini froui morn till night,
From night tiii luorn, and everywhere;
When life wjis dark, when life was
bright,
When doctors told him have a care,
When preachers preached with all their
might.
When judge andjjury told him, swear,
Surprised, he answered, wrong or right:
"Well, I declare!"
When some one said the earth was round,
And others said tbe earth was flat.
The disputants he would confound
By saying nothing but just that.
When he was told, Oh, this is hot!
It seemed to take him unaware,
And he would gasp oat as if shet:
"Well, I declare!"
One summer day old Silas died,
And friends and tears above him shed;
He piissed beyond the great divide
That parts the living from the dead;
But from the blue and tender skies,
Down through the sun-lit summer air,
A whisper came of glad surprise:
"Well, I declare!"
