Blood Diseases are cured. by
the persevering use of Ayer'fi
Sarsaparilla.
This medicine is an Alterative, and
causes a radical change in the system.
The process, in some cases, may not be
quite so rapid as in others ; hut, with
persistence, the result Is certain.
Head these testimonials :
" For two years I suffered from a se
rere pain in my right side, and had
other troubles caused by a torpid liver
and dyspepsia. After giving several
medicines a fair trial without a cure, I
began to take Ayer's Sarsaparilla. I
was greatly benefited by the first bottle,
and after taking five bottles I was com
pletely cured." John "W. Benson, 70

on my arm. The usual remedies' had nb

eight weeks. A friend induced me to try

Another marked effect of the use of this
medicine was the strengthening of my

" I had a dry scaly humor for years,
and suffered terribly ; aud, as my broth
er and sister were similarly afflicted, I
presume the malady Ls hereditary. Last
winter. Dr. Tyron, (of 'Fernandina,
Fla.,) recommended me to take Ayer's
Sarsaparilla, and continue it for a year.
For five months I took it daily. I have
not had a blemish upon my body for the
last three months." T. E. Wiley, 146
Chambers st., New York City.
" Last fall and winter I was troubled
with a dull, heavy pain in my side. I
did not notice it much at first, but it
gradually grew worse until it became
almost unbearable. During the latter
part of this time, disorders of the stom
ach and liver increased jn troubles. I
began taking "Aycr'a Sarsaparilla, and,
after faithfully continuing the use o(
this medicine for some months, the palp
disappeared, and - X was completely
cured." Mrs. Augusta A. Furbush,

THE BEHRING SEA SEIZURES.
Latest Concerning the Complications.
Washington, July . 3L Assistant
secretary of the treasury Tiohener, in
a talk with a Post reporter to-night
about the Behring sea seizures, said:
"There will be no child's play about
thi3 administration. The officers of
the revenue cutter hfiVe plain, une
quivocal orders. They will seize
every vessel, American or British,
found violating the law, Great Brit
ain claims the right to the .fiaberies,
it is true, but Great Britain i3 in the
habit of claiming everything. The
idea of redress or indemnity, under
the circumstances is absurd. The
matter will be treated as a small
trespass."
Commissioner of customs Holliday
said: "The only trouble is we have
not enough vessels in Behring sea
nroDetlv to defend the fisheries. No
men-of-war, I think, -are on duty in
hjeiiring sea
,. ri:ni.
If anything is done by
he Enelish government it will prob
ably be an offset to our claim to the
Canadian fisheries."
Bangor, Me., July 31. Secretary
Blaine passed through the oity this
evening. A reporter called his atten
tion to the declaration in a Boston
paper to-day to the effect tbat it
would be impossible for the national
government to sustain the pretension
of secretary Blaine that the Behring
sea is distinctly American wnter.
The secretary remarked it might
be well for the paper in question to
indicate the occasion, official or un
official, where he had" said anything
at all on that point.
Mr. Blaine further stated thnt
everything done on the fur seal ques
tion since tha4th of last March was
in literal compliance with the direc
tions container in the act of congress
approved by president Cleveland ou
the last day of his term.
San Franoisoo, July 31. The an
nouncement of the British sealer
Black Diamond by the United States
steamer- Rush, in Behring sea, re
ceiveB bat little consideration in this
citv. "Statements about war and
future trouble with England are given
little hearing," sain a promiueut .hn
glishman.
"Although our business is carried
on in direct opposition to the Alaska
Commercial company" said one of.
the leadijg&)&kip&cking men this
morning, 'Ibelieve !iuthe present
actiou of-tlie United States govern
ment. The fisheries should be pro
tected. The government, has taken
the proper jstep' but J should bave
done so long before this. British"
and American pirates have decreased
the number of oiiri seals Jn Behring
sea at least "one-tli'rdsinpe 1885, and
they will totally extinguish them in
two years more if the United States
government does not continue to ar
rest them. England, in taking up
this matter of protection to its Vic
toria sealers will have to remember
that 10,000 British subjects receive
employment at the hands of the
Alaska Commercial company, by its
sending skins to England to be pre
pared. American sealers who are at
present in the north do not receive
much sympathy from people of this
oity. The clasa of men employed by
them are not what would be desired
in dofsnding or encouraging the in
terest of the United States in the
north. Vessels leave here generally
with a crew of brigands, that do not
hesitate at anything, and are always
ready for a row. They depart with a
small cargo of provisions and a load
of whisky, which, as has frequently
been proven, is freely distributed
among the natives, much to the lat
ter's demoralization."
Ottawa, July SL The cubinet
yesterday considered the Beizure of
the British vessels- by the United
States cruiser in Behring sea. A
demand will at once be made on the
British government for two vessels to
proceed to Behring sea to protect
Canadian vessels from the United
States cutters. Bonnell believes that
several of the sealing sohooners that
sailed from Victoria are heavily
armed, and will -be able to protect
themselveB, as they Started' with the
intention of not being taken without
a desperate struggle.
THE BEPORT DENIED.
Ottawa, July 31. The report that
the cabinet has considered the Beh
ring sea matter-is untrue. The min
ister Of customs has telegraphed Vic
toria for a report As soon as it
comes to hand a strong remonstrance
will be submitted to the imperial gov
ernment.
The report that the Canadian gov
ernment had urged-the adoption of a
retaliatory policy in regard to the
seizure of the sohooner Black Dia
mond is untrue,. Tke cabinet, after
disoussmg the matter, forwarded two
telegrams from Victoria to the gov
ernor general, with a request that
they be forwarded to the colonial
office. The cabinet also requested
that, hec .majesty's government should
adop't prompt meriaures to protect
British subjects outue Jiighsea.
Victoria, B. C, July 81.-Great in.
dignation is feltiore oyer -the- seizr
ure of the schoonecBZacfc Diamond
in Behring sea'by the United States
cutter Bush. A public meeting will
probably be held -and- -resolutions
passed for transmission, to the im
perial parliament, asking that the
imperial government interfere in be
half of the British Teasels engaged in
the sealing trade.
It. is -believed here that if but one
man has-been placed in charge - of
the Black Diamond, her captain vol".
not obey the Hush's orders, and
will sail for Victoria instead of Sitka.
Victoria, B. 0., July 31. There
is nothing new in the Behring sea
seizure. The matter has been fully
placed before the Ottawa authorities.
What actionthey will take is, of
conrse, unknown.
Ayer's Sarsaparilla is recommended
by physicians as the only sure blood
purifier.
Chief Cushman, of Creek Indian
nation is soliciting Secretary Noble
for S4,000,000 which is in the treasury
for distribution among the tribe.
says the Hepuer Gazette. There are
14,000 members and they claim to
need it badly. If the law permits the
secretary to make the payment, he
will perhaps do so.
Ayer's Ague Cure "breaks up"
chills and fever, expels malarial poi
sons from the system, and restores
health. Warranted to cure.
The JLa Grande Gazette says that
Dan Geaney, living ou Dry "creek,
about six and a half miles from
Walla Walla Buffered a loss of 5,000
bushels of grain iu stack and field
Saturday, by fire which started in
some unaccountable manner. The
grain was insured at $8 per acre.
Two thresher crews werent work, but
were unable to arrest the progress of
the flames until the above loss was
sustained.
When your liver is out of order your

Soulhr-in roots and heibs which an all
wise Providence has placed in countries
where liver diseases prevail."
Bill Lamb is coming to the
front with an unique enterprise says
the Lake county Examiner. He is
canning the hams of jack rabbits
and shipping them east. He is work
ing in the best field iu the country;
the sage brush plains of Tick Ridge.
Four thousand have been salted
down to date. Geese nre also being
