General Orook's Talk to the Sioux.
General Crook is with the commis
sioners engaged in negotiating with
the Sioux for a purchase by the gov
ernment of 11,000,000 acres of land,
which the latter wisnes to open to
settlement. The Sioux have great
respect for General Crook, as they
have for all hard fighters, who know
how to make "eood Indians." But it
may be doubted 'Whether they ever
listened to any iranKer taiK man was
addressed them by General Crook.
He told them that they had not ad
vanced as much as he hoped they
would do during the eleven years
since he was last with them. They
were ready to "loaf and do nothing,"
