The woodwork under the gallery took fire during the performance of "The Still Alarm," and people sat and watched a real fire scene unmoved. Pire truck No. 1 was called immediately, and a squad pf police, headed by chief Murphy, were inside a short time after the discovery ofthe"blaze. "When the firemen en tered a few people showed a disposi tion to rush out, but fireman Coleman dealt one man a powerful blow with his fist This had the desired effect of stopping a rush which might have resulted in a panic. The police did good work. The; audience watched intently the firemen as they battled with and subdued ' the flames.
