M Long-Standin Blood Diseases are cured by the persevering use of Ayer'e Sarsaparilla. This medicine is an Alterative, and causes a radical change in the system. The process, in some cases, may not be. quite so rapid as in others ; but, with persistence, the result is certain, Read these testimonials : " For two years I suffered from a se vere pain in my right side, and had other troubles caused by a torpid liver and dyspepsia. After giving several medicines a fair trial without a cure, I began to take Ayer's Sarsaparilla. I was greatly benefited by the first bottle, and after taking five bottles I was com pletely cured." John "W. Benson, 70 Lawrence St., Lowell, Mass. Last May a large carbuncle broke out on my arm. The usual remedies had no effect and I was confined to my bed for right weeks. A friend induced me to try Ajcr's Sarsaparilla. Less than three bottles healed the sore. In all uiyexpe-i-i.-iiee with medicine, I never saw more Wonderful Results. Another marked effect of the use of this medicine was the strengthening of my -ight." Mrs. Carrie Adams, Holly Springs, Texas. " I had a dry scaly humor for years, and suffered terribly ; and. as my broth er and sister were similarly afflicted, I presume the malady is" hereditary. Last winter. Dr. Tyron, (of Fernandina, 1'la.,) recommended me to take Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and continue it for a year.. For five months I took it "daily. I have not had a blemish upon mv body for the last three months." T. E. "Wiley, 145 Chambers St., New York City. " Last fall and winter I was troubled with a dull, heavy pain in my side. I did not notice it much at first, but it gradually grew worse until it became almost unbearable. During the latter part of this time, disorders of the stom. ach and liver increased my troubles. I began taking Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and, after faithfully continuing the use o( this medicine for some months, the paiq disappeared and I wa3 completely cured." Mrs. Augusta A. The new steam tne that ba3 been in the process of construction for the past few weeks, was successfully launched at o p. m. yesterday. This boat was built under the di rection of Major T. J. Handbury, the United mates engineer, omcer in charge of the work of improving the mouth of the Columbia rirer. It is to do the towing necessary to this work between Astoria and rort btevens and in the vicinity of the jetty. The neavy stono barges are towed between Astoria and the contractor's quarry above Fisher's landing, by the gov ernment steamer Cascades. This new boat will be a valuable and necessary adjunct to the plant belonging to the work at the mouth of the river. The rock and other material used in the construction of the jetty will now be moved with regularity nnd dispatch. The boat is named after Colonel George H. Mendell, corps of engi neers, United States army, an officer well known throughout the country, and especially on the Pacifio coast, where he has been identified profes sionally for many years with all the government engineering projects.both civil and military, and with many private and corporate engineering enterprises. It is 90 feet, C inches in length over all, 18 feet beam and 7 feet depth of hold. The hull and cabin are built of tho very best se lected material. The machinery and boiler were furnished by the Pennsylvania Iron Works, Philadelphia, a firm known for the excellence of the marine ma chinery that is turned out from its shops. The engines are inverted compound, of tho receiver type, with cranks at right angles. The diameter of the high pressure cylinder is 12 inches; that of the low pressure 22 inches. The reversing gear is oper ated by steam. The propeller is five feet nine inches in diameter. The boilor is of the Scotch type, steel, 9 feet 3 inches in diameter by 10 feet long, containing two furnaces each 3G inches inside diameter, and 124 3-inch return tubes. The steel is stamped 60,000 pounds tensile strength. The pilot wheel, steam capstan and compass furnished the boat were taken from the wrecked Yaqaina Bay. It i3 hoped that none of the ill luck of that vessel will follow these articles to their new craft. Captain John W. Brown, of Astoria, who is at present in command of the steamer WrigJit, will be given com mand of the Mendell. Jntnes Dren non will take charge of the engines. Oregonian, 11. Ayer's Pills aro pleasant, sate and sure, and excel all other pills in heal ing and curative qualities. Best for family use. Children whose father is less than 20 years of age have a weak constitu tion. The issue of fathers of between 25 and 40 years are the strongest, while the descendants of fathers of over 40 years are weak. The health iest children are those whose mother has not yet reached 35 years. Those born of mothers of between 35 and 40 years of age are 8 per cent, weaker, and tnose or motuers or over 4U are 10 per cent, weaker. Tho children of aged fathers and younger mothers have, as a general thine, a strong con stitution; but if the parents are of the same age, the children are less robust. No other preparation so meets the wnnts of a debilitated system as Ayer's Sarsaparilla. A man hopelessly lost in the bush in South Australia, after wandering about for four day," came upon the telegraph line between Adelaide and and Port Darwin. He hadn't strength to go further, but he managed to climb a pole and cut the wire. Then he made himself as comfortable as possible and waited. The plan work ed well. .The telegraph repairers were sent along the line, and they came to the wanderer in time to save his life. Do not wait until to-morrow, when you feel sick, but take immediately a dose of Pfunder's Orecon Blood Pnri- tier and prevent a serious attack of sickness, it is the best liver regu lator and blood cleanser in existence.
