There has been a good deal of ex citement in this community during the past few days growing out of the horrible and business like White Cap warning received by two well known citizens of the town. A week ago last Friday Fred Hartlieb, proprietor of the Stone Honse hotel, received a box by express, which had been shipped from somo -way station on the Baltimore and Ohio road. Hart lieb opened the box and was paralyzed by its contents. Inside was a pair of human cars, two big toes, tho second finger of a man and a piece of human cuticle about four inches square, on which was scrawled a warning to leave the place at once. Hartlieb said nothing to his friends, bnt he and his wife wero about frightened to death, and since then up to last Saturday he has been standing guard over his premises with a rifle while his wife slept. Matters drifted along until Saturday night, when a bundle of hickory switches was hung on Hart lieb's doorknob, and a paper posted up again warning him to leave. A like warning and bunch of switches wero likewise left at the home of Anthony Smith. The excitement has been growing ever since. , Sjme Oregon Recommendations. Washxxgtox, April 3.
