He Was Insulted.
In days of old, when knights
were bold and barons held their
sway, there was a man named Ran
som. "He had a wife and sundry
children. He was a man who
never attended the village church.
Finally a new minister came, who
succeeded in persuading Mr. Ran
som to attend the sanctuary for nt
least one Sunday and bring, his
family along. Accordingly, on
the next Sabbath Col. Ransom, fol
lowed by. the various members of
his family, went sailing into the
church and up the aisle; but they
were somewhat late, and it hap
pened that the minister was reading
the hymn, as usual, in a vrry im
pressive tone of voice, and the
first thing the colonel heard was:
'Return, j-e Rausom'd Sinners,
Home!" The Co!, regarded the
words as a personal insult, and lie
yelled out to thc minister. You
bet your darned life We'll return
home! We wouldn't havo come at
all ifyou hadn't asked us!" The ,.
lolumtnl by his f.imily, lie talkeu
indignantly out of the church.
