Cough medicines, Ayer's Cherry Pec.
toral i3 in greater demand than ever
No preparation for Throat and Lung
Troubles Is so prompt in Its effects, sc
agreeable to trie taste, and so widely
known, as this. It is the family medi
cine in thousands of households.
"I hare "suffered for years from a
bronchial trouble that, whenever I take
cold or am exposed to inclement weath.
er, shows itself by a very annoying
tickling sensation in tho throat and by
difficulty In breathing. I have tried a
great many remedies, but none does bo
vel as Ajer's Cherry Pectoral which
always gives prompt relief in returns of
my old complaint." Ernest A. Hepler,
Inspector of Publio Koads, Parish Ter,
re Iion&e, La.
. " I consider Ayer's Cherry Pectoral a
most important remedy
For Home Use.
I havo tested ita curative power, in my
family, many times during the past
thirty years, and hae never known it
to fail. It will relieve the moat serious
affections of tho throat and lungs,
whether in children or adults." Mrs.
E. O. Edgerly, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
"Twenty years ago I was troubled
with a disease of the lungs. Doctors
afforded me no relief and considered
my case hopeless. I then began to use
Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, and, before I
had finished one bottle, found relief. I
continued to take this medicine until a
cure was effected. I believe that Ayer's
Cherry Pectoral saved my life."
Samuel Griggs, Waukegan, 111.
" Six years ago I contracted a severe
cold, which settled on my lungs and
soon developed all the alarming symp
toms of Consumption. I had a cough,
night sweats, bleeding of the lungs,
pains in chest and sides, and was so
prostrated as- to be confined to my
bed most of the time. Alter trying
various prescriptions, without benefit,
my physician finallr determined to give
me Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. I took It.
snd the effect was magical. I seemed
to rally from the flrt dose of this
medicine, and, after using only three
bottles, am as well and sound as ever."
Rodney Johnson, Springfield, 111.

An Oregon Oity Man Drowned.
Oregon City, Jan. 22. F. "W.
Campbell, a prominent citizen of
this place was drowned to day.
For some time he has been work
ing for the Willamette Falls Elec
tric company as superintendent of
line construction, To-day he was
having poles taken from the river,
aud remained at the raft while the
teams were absent, and evidently
fell in when no one was near. He
could not swim. William Fletch
er, passing at 2:30, discovered
Campbell's hat floating in the
eddy, his coat on the bank, and a
spike-pole on the raft, and gave
an alarm. Search was immedi
ately begun but tho body was not
recovered until 4 o'clock. He was
homo to dinner and was last seen
by the teamsters about 2 o'clock,
la the prime of life, a universal
favorite, and a strong man in the
community, his death is deeply
regretted. He leaves a wife and
three children.

The Mining Troubles Ended.
Seattle, W. T., Jan. 22. -The
mining troubles in this county are
settled, so far as surface indii-a
ions go. The workmen at Gil
man and Cedar river returned to
work this morning, and all the
mines are now running1 to their
usjal capacity. The settlement
f the trouble was caused by the iss
uance of a letter from H. W- Mo
Ne 1, manager of the Oregon Im
provement company, defining the
jos tinii the company will assume
towards labor organizations. Mr.
McNeil states that he will employ
whomsoever he pleases in the
operation of the mine, without re
uard to atnliation with any labor
organization. This is construed
by the-ilnights to mean that the
former interdict against them in
the Newcastle mine has been re
moved, and they will be allowed
to return to work.
