Has anybody heard from Texas? What's the matter. with Clatsop county? The court house vote surprised ev erybody. Harrison's majority in Portland was 1,479. Now there will be a big emigration to Oregon. Harrison has 233 electoral votes and is elected. The streets presented an unusually lively appearance yesterday. Oregon's majority for Harrison ap proximates ine surprising ngures or last June. The bark Varuna, from Australia, loaded with coal, will discharge about 500 tons here. And now will come the story in ten thousand towns and counties of how it was done. There are several large collections of old. coins in this city, somo of which are very valuable. In 1884 the vote of New York city was. Cleveland 133,167, Blaine 90,093, Butler 3,499, St John, 1,031. A California company has bought large quantities of Oregon apples and are shipping them to Australia. Chief engineer Gaffney, of the steamer Dispatch, was drowned at Port Townsend at an early hour yes terday morning. A theater man over at Seattle wants to make an assignment to protect his creditors. His liabilities are 823, 279.33. His assets are S20. The ladies show, Borne of them, considerable interest in politics and many were out yesterday to hear how the decisive states had gone. Blaine had 983 majority in this state in 84. An idiot last Tuesday night wanted to bet that Harrison's ma jority in '88 in this state wouldn't be as mnch as Blaine's in '84. Last July The Astobian said that there was and is an Astorian who is related to both Harrison and Mor ton, and that Tee Astorian of Nov. 8th, 1838, wonld give his name. Here it is: O. P. Upshur. At the Bepublican jollification at the Armory last night C. W. Fnlton announced that on next Saturday night the Bepublicans of the city and county would have a jubilee and rati fication meeting, spoeohes, parade, fireworks, etc. Some of the best vocal and instru mental talent of the city has been en gaged for the entertainment this evening at the Methodist chnrob. The ndmiBsion charged is bnt a trifle, and the ladies will, serve refreshments free, after the programme is finished. Word oomes of the finding yester day of a piece of wreck about abreast of Loomis' place, on the weather beaoh. It is about 20 feet in length, part of the tail and bulwarks of some unfortunate vessel, has a piece of chain plate attached and is painted cream colored outside and red inside. There is no due as to the identity of the fragment. Oa the street yesterday P. P. O'Brien offered to bet Bob't Carruth ers on the election. Carruthers put up the money. O'Brien crawfished and began abusing Carruthers, finally calling him a foul name. This was more than Bobert could stand and he went for O'Brien. Tom Linville stood by and saw there was fair play, and O'Brien got just what he de served. Captain W. P. Gray and wife, of PaBCo, Franklin county, W. T., have had the misfortune to lose three children by death very lately. The first death was Mary Dix Gray, aged 2 years 11 months and 14 days, which ocourred September 24th. When the dispatch stating that the vote of the entire state of New York had been counted, and that the Em pire state was for Harrison by 11,191, was reoeived here at 920 last night, at the armory the Bepublioans pres ent let a mighty cneer, ana some yonng Bepublicans and a few older ones grabbed the torches, lit them and organized an impromptu prooes- sion that in noise and numbers was b grand success. After parading for an nour me procession marched to the Armory, Bepublican headquar ters, which was crowded with cheer ing Bepublicans, and was addressed amid enthusiastic cheers by Messrs. Stockton, Fulton, Gray, Hare and others. The highest pitch of en thusiasm was reached when C. W. Fulton read a dispatch from L. T. Barin, "Paint Astoria red. Harrison has 15,000 plurality in New York." Of the Bochester Comedy company which appears here next Monday and Tuesday, the San Francisco Alta says: A crowded house greeted the Bochester company at the Bush street theater last evening. This company has made a decided "hit." It is one of the best companies that nas ever been here. The large audi ence present last evening were kept convulsed with laughter during the entire performance. This company Will onnaar y fcHTt.i and Xi' to-night. Every one fond of fun should attend. The Bochester com- Sany is worthy of large patronage, o one will be disappointed who at tends. Excited and enthusiastic crowds were in the vicinity of the telegraph office all day yesterday, all last night and up to an early hour this morn ing. Sispatohes were reoeived in manifold and a copy taken to each of ine political Headquarters. The Democratic bulletins next to O. H. Cooper's.and the Bepublican bulletins at Bobb & Parker's were eazerlv scanned, both sides finding a Tittle comfort in what they read, though the biggest cheering on the Bepub lican side showed which way the gen eral drift of news tended. About 3 o'clook P. it., a San Franoisoo Exam iner special was read claiming New York and Indiana for Cleveland, but nobody took much stock in it. Change In the City and County Vote. It you will remember a few years ago the word Malaria was com paratively unknown, to-day it is as common as any word in the English language, yet this, word covers only the meaning of another word used by our forefathers in times past. So it is with nervous diseases, as they and Malaria are intended to cover what our grandfathers called Billiousnoss, and all are caused by "troubles that arise from a diseased condition of the Liver which in performing its funo tions finding it cannot dispose of the b'.le through the ordinary channel is oompelled to pass it off through tho system, causing nervous troubles, Malaria, Bilious Fever, etc. Yon who are Buffering can well appreoiato a cure, we recommend Ureen s Au gust Flower.
