Sugar-Coated Cathartic if tho Liver be comes torpid, if tho bowels are constipated, or if tho stomach fails to perform its functions properly, use Ayer's Pills. They are invaluable. For some years I was a victim to Liver Complaint, in consequence of which I suffered from General Debility and Indi gestion. A few boxes of" Ayer's Pills restored me to perfect health. "W. T. Brightney, Henderson, w. Va. For years I have relied moro upon Aj er's Pills than anything else, to Regulate my bowels. These Pills are mild in ac tion, and do their work thoroughly. I have used them, with good effect, in cases of Rheumatism and Dyspepsia. G. F. Miller, Attlcborough, Mais. Ayer's Pills cured me of Stomach and Liver troubles, from which I had suffered for years. I consider them the best pills made, and would not be without them. Morris Gates, Downsville, N. Y. I was attacked with Bilious Fover, which was followed by Jaundice, and was so dangerously ill that my friends despaired of my recovery. I commenced taking Ayer's F1113, and soon regained my customary strength and vigor. John C. Pattison, Lowell, Nebraska. Last spring I suffered greatly from a troublesome numor on my side. In spite of every effort to cure this eruption, it in creased until the flesh became entirely raw. I was troubled, at the same time, with Indigestion, and distressing pains in The Bowels. By the advice of a friend I began taking Ayer's Pills. In a short time I was freo from pain, my food digested properly, the sores on my body commenced healing, and, in less than one month, I was cured. Samuel D. "White, Atlanta, Ga. I havo long used Ayer's Pills, in my family, and believe them to be tho best pills made. S. C. Darden, Darden, Miss. My wifo and littlo girl were taken with Dysentery a few days ago, and I at once began giving them small doses of Ayer's Pil Is, thinking I would call a doctor if the disease became any worse. In a short time the bloody discharges stopped, all pain went away, and health was restored. Theodore Esling, Richmond, Va. tt Ayer's Pills Prepared by Br. J. C. Aycr & Co., Lowell, Mua. He Was Easily Vanquished By a Big Curly Dog. Norman Simmons, Camden's first dog-catcher, is a negro who stands nearly 7 feet high, and is as black as a raren. Business got so brisk the latter end of last week that Simmons hired a little colored man named Henry Brown to help him. On their rounds of south Camden on Saturday they ran across a big burly dog of uncer tain breed taking the morning sun on a Kaighn avenue doorstep. "Dars anuder dollar l"exclaimed Simmons, his mouth stretching out in the direction of his ears; "go fur 'im Brown." "Look-ahear, Simmons," said the assistant, "my net ain't big 'null for dat dawg." "Yas, 'tis; you'se feard ob dat dawg, Brown, 'pears ter me." By this time It big crowd had collected and matters were as suming a thrilling aspect. The big curly dog slept peacefully on. "Simmons, you'se got ter ketch dat dawg," said Brown at length. "Who's de boss ob dis racket?" asked Simmons, with great dig nity. "I want yer ter to know I'se de ketcher and you'se de 'sistan'! You got ter ketch dat dawg, foh dah's anuder dollar in 'im, I tell per." Brown went gingerly forward, arranging his net for a good throw. He got within ten feet of the steps. The dog started up suddenly with a low growl and made a spring for Brown. Tho unhappy darkey was not quick enough to escape, and he went flying throngh the scat tering crowd minus the seat of his trousers. Simmons dropped his net and fled precipitately in an other direction, and the big curly dog settled leisurely down on Brown's net. A policeman was summoned, the owner of the dog was called, and the paraphernalia of war was restored to Simmons, who knocked off for the day with the remark: " 'Sistans is no gocd nohow." PMladetyhia JiecorJ. An Important Beport. Washington, Oct. 1. Senator Dolph, from the committee on public lands, reported as an amendment to a similar bill, which has passed the house-arid senate, a bill to forfeit all the lands granted the Northern Pacific Railroad Co., which are coterminus with that part' of the' line which shall not have been constructed at the date of the passage of the bill. This, however, is not to be construed as forfeiting the right of way or sta tion grounds needed by the com pauy in the construction of its roads. Where persons are in pos session of forfeited lands under title secured in good faith from the Northern Pacific prior to January 1, 18861, they shall be entitled to purchase the same from the United States in quantities not exceeding 320 acres to any one person at a rate qf $2.50 per acre. John Boyle O'ltielly, poet, au thor and editor of the Boston Pilot, has had some thrilling experiences in his life. At 21 he was sen tenced to oe snot lor dissemi nating Fenian ideas in the ranks of the Fourth Iluzzars, of which regiment he was a member. The sentence was commuted to twenty years' penal servitude in West Australia. He escaped at the end of the first year and secured a berth on a whaler, which after a six months' cruise again landed him in Australia. After a number of romantic escapes from capture he finally succeeded in embarking for America. Tho Idaho arrived from Alaska this morning, and among the passengers for this port were the Messrs. Topham, who attempted tho ascent of Mt. St. Elias, but only reached a height of 11,000 feet. Several miners, tho first out from the Yu kon country, also came down. They report mining on Forty Mile creek as fair, though many places are worked out. The highest paid yet by any one claim in the Yukon region was on Hamilton bar, where $1,200 were taken out by sluicing in three days' running, night and day shift. Many miners havo made noth ing. Wages were night dollars to $10 per day, flour $17 a barrel and beans and bacon 30 cents per pound. A reported strike on Beaver creek, 400 miles down the river, drew many old hands away from Forty Mile, and about seventy-five newcomers, who, however, were disappointed. Gold existed on the creek, but not in paying quantities. About a hundred of these miners went down to St. Michael's, hoping to secure pas sage by the revenue steamers or whaling vessels to San Francisco. Very few men are mining on Stewart river, and with poor re sults, About one hundred men will winter on Forty Mile. Three men died on the creek during last winter of scurvy.
