The First Sign Of failing health, whether in the form ol Night Sweats and Nervousness, or in a sense of General "Weariness and Los3 ol Appetite, should suggest the use ol Ayer's Sarsaparilla. This preparation is most effective, for giving tone and strength to the enfeebled system, pro moting the digestion and assimilation ol food,. restoring tho nervous forces to their normal condition, and for purify ins, enriching, and vitalizing the blood. Failing Health. Ten years ago my health hegan to fail. I was troubled with a distressing Cough, Night Sweats, Weakness, and Nervous ness. I tried various remedies pre scribed by different physicians, out becamo so weak that I could not go up stairs without stopping to rest. My friends recommended me to try Ayer's Sarsaparilla, which I did, and I am now as healthy and strong as ever. Mrs. E. L. "Williams, Alexandria, Minn. I have used Ayer's Sarsaparilla, in my family, for Scrofula, and know, if it is taken faithfully, that it will thoroughly eradicate this terrible disease. I have also prescribed it as a tonic, as well as an alterative, and must say that I honestly believe it to be tho best blood medicine ever compounded. "W. F. Fowler, M. D., V. D. S., Greenville, Tenn. Dyspepsia Cured. It would be impossible for mo to de scribe what I suffered from Indigestion and Headache up to the time I began taking Ayer's Sarsaparilla. I was under the care of various physicians, and tried a great many kinds of medicines, but never obtained more than temporary re lief. After taking Ayer's Sarsaparilla for a short time, my headache disap peared, and my stomach performed its duties more perfectly. To-day my health is completely restored. Mary Harley, Springfield, Mass. I have been greatly benefited by the prompt use of Ayer's Sarsaparilla. It tones and invigorates the system, regu lates tho action of the digestive and assimilative organs, and vitalizes the blood. It is, without doubt, the most reliablo blood purifier yet discovered. Berry having failed, two submarine mines, charged with 400 and 200 pounds of guncotton, were exploded underneath the vessel. These freed her from her anchors and cables. She then righted herself, but it was soon found she was sinking and by neit morning she had foundered in deep water. A BIG DEAIi. MiNTEAroLis, Aug. 17. A promi nent lower river lumberman says: "I have positive information of a gi gantic lumber trust is now pending between members of the lower river logging companies and Borne of the prominent pine owners of Minneapo lis. The lumbermen of this city can deny just as long as they choose that report has any foundation, but the present negotiations are nearly com pleted. In less than three months the Mississippi Logging company will be the proprietors of the greater part of the pine lands tributary tor the Mississippi." The gentleman stated farther that David Joyce of Lyons, Iowa, who is one of the heaviest stockholders in tho Mississippi Logging company, was the man who worked up the deal for the purchase of the St. Paul booms, and that he is at the present time interested in them. don't cabe tor politics. El Paso, Aug. 17. It has recently teen published in various newspapers, particularly in the New Orleans Times-Democrat and the San Fran cisco Examiner, that the Chinesein El Paso had organized for campaign purposes, and that Sam Hing, a rich railroad contractor and merchant, was at the head of the movement There is not one word of truth in tho report Hardly one in a dozen among the many hundreds of Mongolians here know anything about the polit ical status of this country, and none take any interest in it All they care for is to make and savo up money to go back to Ohina with. Sam Hing has large contracts with the south western railroads for furnishing la bor. He disclaims any participation in political affairs. He says the time is very far distant when the Chinese population will be a factor in the pol itics of this country. SULLIVAN AND KILBAIN. Paris, Aug. 17. Richard K. Fox, through the Paris ofiice of the New York Herald, has proffered a check for five thousand dollars, at the same time asking the pnblication of a letter offering to back Jack Kilrain against Sullivan or any other man in the world for 10,000 or more, the deposit to be held until September 30th, the fight to be for the money and the Police Cazette diamond belt, the men to fight not sooner than -six months from the date of signing articles, the second deposit of 2,500 a side to be made with the Sporting Life at London, and the third and last deposit io be made with the New York Clipper as final stakeholder. Fox said Kilrain was a little fat but he would soon reduce his weight, and, in case of a match, Mitchell would be trainer. Both sail soon for New York. Biliousness. We have tested its virtues, personally, and know that for Dyspepsia, Bilious ness and Throbbing Headache, it is the best medicine the world ever saw. We tried forty other remedies before Sim mons Liver ltegulator, but none of them gave us more than temporary relief; the .Regulator not only relieved but cured us. II. H. Jokes, Ed. Telegraph and Messenger, Macon. Ga. The popular idea that a razor needs rest occasionally has a scientific found ation in the case of lino razors. The grain of the best Swedish razors runs in a diagonal direction from the upper end to the outer point toward the liamllo Constant stropping will twist the steel until the grain sets up and down, and steady use draws the grain still farther over. When it gets into this condition it cannot be kept sharp, but If laid away and left alone for awhile the grain will resume its first position and the razor be as good as new again. From Birth to the (J rave We carry with us certain physical traits, as we do certain mental characteristics. Inso much that psychologists have striven to designate by generic titles certain tempera ments as the billons, the nervous, the lym phatic Tho Individual with a s.tllow com plexion is set down as bilious, often rightly so. Jf the saffron In the hue of his sktn Is traceable to bile In the blood, its presence in the wrong place instead of the liver, will al so be evinced by fur on the tongue, pain be neath the right ribs and through tne right shoulderblaue, sick headache, constipation, flatulence and indigestion. For the relief of this very common, but not essentially peri lous complaint, there Is no moie genial ami thorough remedy than Hostetter's Stomach Bitters, which is al-o a Denelicent tonic and strength promoter, and a widely esteemed remedy for and preventative of fever and ague, rheumatism, kidney and bladder iroumra. The Alturas Independent is re sponsible for the follewing: Farm er Patterson's mare had twin colts last week. One was a horse, the other was a mule. Farmer Todhunter of Wild Horse mountain, Oregon, has a crop of oats that yields seventy five bushels to the acre. The grain stood seven feet high. Wisconsin parties have com menced the raising of buffaloes for the sake of theirhides. THE CHAMPION OAHAED. A Eeport That Uleveland Will IfotEtm. Philadelphia, Aug. 17. The Evening Item this afternoon prints, with double loads, a report that a private letter was received in Philadelphia from Washington to-day, and written by a well known Democratiqileader, convey ing the startling but evidently well authenticated information that president Cleveland's long delayed letter will decline the nomination tendered him at St. Louis. The letter goes on to say that the president lias been as tounded at the' protection feeling exhibited in the good old Demo cratic party since the Mills bill was passed, and that he fears a disruption in the party ranks of such magnitude that another set back of twenty-four years would ensue if he went before the coun try on that issue For him to hedge while under fire would never do, and the only way to save his party from overwhelming de feat is tb withdraw and reconvene the convention in the interest of a new candidate, with a pronounced protection record. It is hinted that in spite of cer tain factional feeling Hon. Sam J. Randall would be the man emin ently qualified to lead the Demo cratic party to victory under the new banner. The editor of the Item sent a telegraphic query to private sec retary Lamont, asking if the re port were true, but no answer had been received up to the time the paper went to press. Children Cry for Pitcher's Castoria When Baby was sick, wo gave her Castoria. (Then she was a Child, she cried tor Castoria, When she became Miss, she clang to Castoria, When she had Children, she gave them Castoria A Nebraska editor thus de scribes the effect ol a stroke of hehtninrr: "A strav streak of lightning was fatally wounded in Mead lately. It dashed into a butcher shop, struck a boarding nouse steaK, anu hobbled through the window shrieking with pain." Scrofula cannot resist the puri fying powers of Ayer's Sarsapa rilla. Warranted The excuse set up for W. A. Smith, defaulting discount clerk in a Philadelphia bank, is that he was completely nicotinized by exces sive smoking, and that his down fall was due to this fact.
