En Paso, Tex., is to Lave a new postoffice and custom house, to be erected on the site of an old adobe building that has long been occupied by a host of Chinese. Preparations for tearing down this building have revealed the fact teat the whole of the region has been undermined by secret tunnels and excavated rooms, in which not only opium-smoking and gambling has been carried on, but other dark deeds perpetrated, without the white population of the cities and even the owners of the real estate hav ing suspicion of what was going on. The presi dent and Mrs. Cleveland left Wash ington this morning for Philadelphia to attend the Presbyterian anniver sary they will hold a reception at Overbrook this afternoon. Rotrock who killed his wife a number of years ago while under the influence of honor. A necu liar feature of the pardon is that the governor issued it upon condition that Eotrock will forever abstain from the use of intoxicating lianor. Such n condition has never before been imposed by a governor of this state but the attorney general advised the governor that the condition would be sustained by the court, man water in Arkansas. A petition of the Woman's Chris tian Temperance Union of southern California, asking the repeal of all internal revenue tax on alcoholic liquors; a petition of the faculty of the university of California in favor of an international copyright law. DOUBLE RAILWAY ACCIDENT. Kansas City, Mo., May 23.
