Sullivan and Buffalo Bill, with arms linked, each smoking a cigarette. Ik addition to the regular army of tho United States, -which consists of 25,000 enlisted men and some two thousand officers, the country has an organized militia force of 89,497 men, of whom 7,236 are commissioned officers. i The house in which general Grant was born has been leased by colonel Morton L. Hawkins, ex-sheriff of Hamilton county, and will be on ex hibition for 100 days at the approach ing centennial exposition in Cincin nati It is to be lifted from its pres ent foundation, put on a flat-boat, and floated down the river to Cincinnati. In the year 1856 Melville Weston Fuller, the recently nominated chief justice for the United States supreme court, and James G. Blaine were both legislative reporters in the Maine leg islature. Mr. Fuller reported for the Augusta Age, Democratic, and James G. Blaine for the Kennebec Journal, Whig. Hebe are some of the things which Mr. Depew found on opening his mail the other merning: An invitation to dinner; a request for an annual pass from New York to Albany; an invita tion to dinner; a nomination for presi dent of the United States; an invita tion to dinner; a request for an auto graph; an invitation to dinner; a photograph of a small infant named Chauncey Depew Biggs; an invitation to dinner; a request for a loan of 810 from an enthusiastic member of tho Storm Hill Depew Republican Club; an invitation to dinner. A laege number of New York cor respondents of newspapers in other cities gathered at the World office the other night, on special invitation, to witness the operation of making up and issuing a thirty-six-page Sun day paper. These correspondents were all more or less familar with newspaper work, but such an under taking as that of tho World is worth any one's time to behold. Would that tho World's proprietors could invite every man who thinks he knows just how a newspaper ought to be run, to take a hand in issuing its quarter of a million thirty-six-page edition some night "Heiress to Millions," The newspaper stated, and how many women, probably, read the 6ame, and envied her. But little was she to be en vied, however; for in spite of her great wealth she was miserable. It was her lot, in common with myriads of women to suffer from those "chronic weakness es.which are peculiar to the female sex. Miserable, nervous and discouraged, she would gladly have given every dollar of her fortune for one brief installment of health. How easy. and. how inexpen sive, would be the journey to health, if Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription was selected as a remedy, and the use of the same persisted in ; that is, the experience oi thousands oi women amictea in tne above manner, teaches us to predict so. It Is the only medicine for women, sold by druggists, under a positive guarantee, from tho manufacturers.that it will give satisiaction in evejy case, or money win be refunded. This Guarantee has been printed on the bottle-wrapper, and faith fully carried out for many years. Dr Pierce's Pellets, or Anti-billions Granules, cure sick headache, dyspepsia ana constipation.
