In the United States supreme
court, last Monday, a decision was
made iu the Kansas prohibition
cases. The decision is, in effect,
that the supreme court sustains the
right of a state, under its police
powers, to suppress the manufac
ture and sale of liquor within its
limits, without any liability on the
part of the state for compensation
for the value of any property which

the prohibition law of Kansas to
be valid.
