TAYLOR, Chairman; An Exodus From Haine to California. In tho decade between 1870 to 1S80, says the Bangor corre spondent of the Now York Sun, tho population of this city and, in fact, all tho surrounding eoaniry, was reduced to an alarming extent by tho rush of emigration to tjie west Minneapolis and Chicago in particular and business received a severe check. Everybody seemed to think that all he had to do to get rich right away was to go west, and the rush was something re markable. People sold out home steads, where they had lived, the beau- part of their lifetime, and got out in hot haste. Some of thm, who had money to start on, got along in the west very well, but the majority well, they are back here again, trying to re-establish themselves. Just now there is an other emigration, and this time it is to California, antl the exodus to California is nearly equal to the rush to HSinn;s and Minnesota. Every day mot chants, professional men and tradesmen are disposing of their effects here and leaving for the Pacific slope, confident of doing twice as well there as hero. The Rockford Enterprise re lates that Dr. Grtihbe was sum moned in great hasto to attend a peculiar and hopeless case. The seven-year-old boy of Gus Arin son, while playing with his cat and home oeans, accidentally got .nd of the bea'is in his wind pipe and was unable to cough it i; . Outhfear.ii.il ol the doctor the little fellow was sitting on the bed and addressed him by saving, "doctor, you can't do nothing for me, I in going to die! I want to die!" In spite of all the doctor could do he passed awar about six o clock. Gov. Waterman, of California, upon assuming his seat recently, had all tho money in the state treasury counted, insisting upon every seal being broken. The money, 01,100,000, was all there, and the governor gave an elabo rate dinner to all who had a hand in tho count. ZK fArosW Blood Elixir is tho 1&S& fe oniy uiood iRemedy guaranteed.
